I have a fairly limited Kenwood system with the transom remote. I hate to give the remote up, but I'd like a beefier system. Clarion has some great choices now, which open up if you get past the marine versions. Has anyone successfully used a transom remote with a car audio head unit?

I'd love one of the new drop down LCD units, but I doubt it would hold up in the cabin. Anyone done any unique installations, like an overhead console 10" LCD?
