I agree. My 96 22' Scarab ran mid 60's with a 454(330HP). You would need a lot of HP in that 28 to run low 70's(GPS). I would guess 500+ ponies.

power

its been built by a respected builder in mass. spins the 25 pitch 5400-5500 so in prop calculation its right on the money but i agree i thought it would take a lot to run low 70's how rough do they ride??? i boat mostly in the great south bay wich can get a little nasty i think is like 22degree vee i just figured the length would help

ttt

back to the top all input needed supposed to be picking it up this weekend tahnx chris

BRUCE SEROFF 04-23-2009 06:21 AM

think twice if you want to race it some day. 28 foot would require you to run class 5. you'll need to be cabable of 80 plus to run in a 75 mile per hour class. I think you should reconsider the 24 Carrera or that 26 footer you were lookin at.

just my opinion..been there done that.

Chris,
What happened to the Corsa? I thought you were picking that up last weekend??
I also agree with Bruce.

If your running in more than 2 to 3 footers you should have a kidney doner on stand by.

scarab excel 28

do they really ride that hard?? cant be any harder than my baja 226 sport no??? and it has about 5 more feet? just wondering thank you

It really did ride that ruff. Its got sit down pedistal seats and a shallow V. My buddies wife wouldnt ride in it anymore so he sold it and bought a 29 Baja. Its a heavy boat so its gonna take a ton of power to get any respectable speeds out of it. His also had cracks along the cockpit bulkhead, so you may want to check that. It was a very cool looking boat after he painted it.
