THAT ABSOLUTELY BLOWS... WOW Gold rush.....

The news guy says that the propellers looks to be the only thing damaged... I guess he never seen a skeg before!!

THAT ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!!! I feel horrible for the owner...

I guess they are right.. A cat always lands on its feet!

DareDevil 04-23-2009 02:00 PM

DareDevil 04-23-2009 02:07 PM

Yup, Gold Rush. One of the sickest boats ever produced.

Before everyone jumps to more conclusions, it has never been the same driver.
This particular instance invloved an outside person under contract by the owner of the boat.
Other than the fact that it's another Nor-Tech it had nothing to do with the company.
And yes it really sucks but it could have been worse.

Thank you,

Terry

I do like the tape censor job on Nor-Tech. I believe there are rare earth magnets in the bottom of those boats, they always seem to be attracted to the ground.

No sh!t. I own a Baja & my entire boat isn't worth what he has in propellers, but I take mine off while on the road anyway.
I don't get it.

Big Time 04-23-2009 02:39 PM

Looks like there are straps on it to prevent is from going forward (in a hard braking situation), but nothing to keep it from sliding back. There must have been something that snapped....no way you would strap a boat like that from going forward and not strap it for going off the back.

I guess it brings new meaning to the term " Roadster". Just goes to show that you can never be too careful with weight. Once it starts to move look out.

cdowns 04-23-2009 02:47 PM

:eek::eek::eek: That really sucks

BraceYourself 04-23-2009 02:55 PM

I feel bad for the owner.

Looks like the bunks were set up to have the bow high. The tounge with that truck also put the trailer on a slight upward angle. Then factor in new carpet on trailer and the underneith of the boat being near perfect. Then tuns of weight on the transom (4 engines/drives), all it took was a little acceleration with the truck and one inch of movement started the slide.

xconn92 04-23-2009 03:21 PM

I think I am going to throw up as I was just on GOLD RUSH this weekend. That is so hard to look at.

But it's an accident, and it doesn't look like anyone got hurt so let's be thankful for that. And I am sure the truck driver, owner and manufacturer would appreciate a little less speculation.

Just read on another site that the outside skegs were removed at the factory as the boat only needs two.

I agree on the outher,,,but look at the inner 2 ,,,,does not look like #6 skegs ?!:party-smiley-004:

jswfl09 04-23-2009 04:32 PM

Saw it on the news website here. There have been a few this year that have landed on the pavement but I think this might be the biggest (and most expensive) so far.

Ouch.

Strip Poker 388 04-23-2009 04:58 PM

By the direction of the truck looks like he was pulling out in the street ,might of goosed it?

I'm sure we've all had accidents,

Forgot where I was for a minute...............

Per the owner, the cable snapped. And I must say he is taking this quite well and is in very good spirits considering the events of the day.

$hit happens...but holy $hit that's some expensive $hit to happen in the middle of the street.

handfulz28 04-23-2009 09:08 PM

Is it cheaper to replace props and drives than it is to do the gel/paint/glass/carbon repair?

26 REDLINE 04-23-2009 09:35 PM

Yea it could have been alot worse...he could have had both sets of #6 props on there, I guess 35,000 dollars plus the price of traffic control, crane fees and so on, no big deal.

But hell the way Nor-Techs slide off of trailers, they either have carpet with microscopic rollers on them, or 3,000hp trucks to tow them:drink:
