Is NorTech Smoking crack?

Get a load of this

http://www.gcoffshore.com/gco_files/nortech.htm

Go there, check out the engine room AND the transom shots
4 big blocks?
Is that really necessary?
Man, some people just dont know when enough is enough
Let me ask
Was this EVER a production boat or is this just totally custom???
(my guess, custom)
I thought the guys with triples were a little crazy
this guy is TOTALLY nuts

I agree, that is simply rediculous. they should stop making them.
They should make me one, then stop making them.;)

Competition!!!! Check ot the Outerlimits named 4 of a Kind. try 4 100HP's in a 47 quad step hull. I'd bet you could run 70 then turn on the other two.....WOW!!

Jayl13 03-25-2002 08:13 AM

Wonder how much fuel these things hold?
Need some pretty big ass saddle tanks to keep 4 thirsty big blocks fed properly and to keep the boat out there running for a while before having to come in and fill them up again
500-600-700 gallons?
Jason

Reindl Powerboats 03-25-2002 08:27 AM

They only build what the customer wants... Must have some heavy hitters down there. I could name a few. They simply want something no one else has. Nothing wrong with that.

Iggy 03-25-2002 08:36 AM

What a rig!
The engine compartment looks packed. How'd you like to try and change plugs on those?

The engine room is simple and clear of clutter
Clutter? There's no room for anything else!

If I was to ever buy one of these, I'd opt for a pair of V-12's in place of four enignes and drives. Or a pair of turbines.

Anyone notice the prop rotation? All are counter rotating.
The outer drives rotate out and the center drives rotate in.

I am pretty sure this boat was at the Miami Boat Show. I have seen enitre BOATS that take up less real-estate than the engine hatch on this boat. It is a shear awesome sight to see; but until I have more money than God, I will stick with a little more simple stuff. Heck, I can have an extra 2-3 hours of boating time over that Nor-Tech per weekend, considering how much time it needs to spend at the fuel dock.

DaveP 03-25-2002 09:12 AM

I know the boat very well.

Yes - 4 motors is not what I would pick but he has had MANY MANY hours of flawless boating with the boat.

As for custom - all Nor Techs are custom just as Outlimits are. No 2 boats are alike.

As for this Nor Tec, the owner David has several boats:

50 Nor Tech
35 Playboy Cigarette
60+ Viking Sportfish
Big ass houseboat
and a 20+ something fishboat.

So in the race of "he who has the most toys wins" - I think he is in the lead :D :D

The 50 Nor Tech will also be at the upcoming Sarasota Poker Run.

GEEZ, What does this dude do for a living besides keep boat salesmen in business?
Jason

sterndrivespec 03-25-2002 09:19 AM

i had the pleasure of riding in a 50 NORTECH a couple of years ago at the thousand isl poker run.this one had quad 850's.most impressive boat i have ever been in.we ran over 110 mph for forty miles.the rigging, fit and finish, paint and detail work were all a "1O".i have been to the factory and engine shop,it's also very impressive

Chris288 03-25-2002 12:09 PM

Hell, I couldnt' even afford the GAS...

Other things on this boat I could not afford:

Did you see the exhaust ?? = $$$$$$
4 outdrives, 5,000 = 20,000
4 bravo props 600.00 = 2,500

probably 500 gallons of fuel ?? at what over 100 gallons per hour ?? thats one expensive day on the water....

SummerObsession 03-25-2002 12:54 PM

I had to laugh when I went to the site. It looks like it must take all four of those engines and all that power just to.........

park it on the beach!:D

Big Ballin'

Cain Crew 03-25-2002 01:05 PM

I'm not winterizing it!

klmken 03-25-2002 01:52 PM

Wife's family money bought this one

His wife's has some family money...not quite sure what he does.....

Jayl13 03-25-2002 01:59 PM

SOME money?
that NorTech has to be at LEAST 750 thou
that is not some money that is a TON of LOOT
but im not complaining, Im proud to have my boat-- I worked my ass off to get where I am today and I have no regrets
If I had to do it all over again, minor changes but nothing drastic
Wish that dude the best cause I would not want the bill for 4 big blocks to be rebuilt at one time. Let alone the gas bill for that beast.
Jason

My mother always used to tell me "Billy, somebodies alway's going to be faster" This guy's mother told him the same thing, ONE TIME! He just didn't want to hear that noise.

B38 03-27-2002 03:44 AM

Give me a break, this is nuts, Twin 1693 cats would eat this boat alive. Probly twist it in half. Just my two cents. Mr. bravo III

Playn 03-27-2002 06:59 AM

Cool boat!.....but beaching it??? Don't quite get that:rolleyes:
