Sick And Silly Nova

Anyone want a Nova that's way faster than it should be?? Was surveyed this morning, and the surveyor said he'd buy it himself if I didn't... Well, I did, and the boat is WAY too fast for me!!! IDK how fast these usually are, but it's obviously been re-powered.....it made a 32-34 ft formula w/ twin efi 502's look slow... Too fast for such a light boat for me... Anyone interested in it? It's 25'9, 1988 Nova spyder....exceptionally clean...twin 350's

phragle 05-29-2009 05:20 PM

nova's are NOT light boats, 350's even warmed up a bit arent a lot of horsepower.. I am not trying to be a dick, but run the hell out of it or buy a blowboat..... or I will straight up trade you the 302's in my nova... that will slow you down some.

Apathetic 05-29-2009 06:34 PM

Is it the one with the "100 small blisters" you were talking about?

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...e-26-nova.html

johnny g 05-29-2009 07:19 PM

If it made that Formula look slow I`ll give you $1500 for it today!:evilb:

onpointe 05-29-2009 07:22 PM

Same boat.... fully surveyed today....over 70mps on gps before I had to back out of it.... i\Its sick.... Has twin LT-4 vette engines....I had no clue.....she is just too fast!!!!!

onpointe 05-29-2009 07:39 PM

jONNY G....YOU ARE JUST A HATER..... 1500?? add a 0 Bring that sonic up and we can run for titles....then I'll sell em both back to you..... the damn thing is WAY too fast for me.... And yes, she has a few blisters.... My surveyor said "don't even fix them.....they are nothing on a 20 yr old boat"....only way they are a problem is if you wanna 'water store it'....in which case, bottom paint is necessary.... Bring what you have, and we'll go for titles>>>>thats how we drag race here in MICHIGAN

johnny g 05-29-2009 07:39 PM

Dude I think you`re full of sh*t! I`m 5 heinekins deep and I can still remember you said -YOU- were gonna put corvette engines in it. It`s gonna take more than corvette engines to push that boat to 70+.

onpointe 05-29-2009 07:42 PM

BTW....I wouldn't use 302's as anchors..... If I owned 302's, I'd prob lie and say they were 5.8's that just didn't run right.....LMAO

onpointe 05-29-2009 07:43 PM

wELL JONNY G.....BRING UR RAFT AND UR TITLE AND WE SHALL SEE...... YOU ARE CALLED OUT....PUT UP OR SHUT UP.....

onpointe 05-29-2009 07:44 PM

Bone stock lt-4 engines.....whats to fear???? BRING IT!

onpointe 05-29-2009 07:45 PM

Jonny G...... Bring It

onpointe 05-29-2009 07:48 PM

oh johnny g....where art thee????

It's a clean boat, and I wanted something to upgrade. I plan to put in FI zr-4 corvette 350's with prochargers, and I plan to completely gut and redo the cabin. I cant pay 100k for a boat, but I can build one that compares. Basically, I wanted the smallest boat I could get with twins. People have said not to worry about the blistering, its easilly fixed with a dremel and some epoxy??? I don't mean to sound so 'green'. I have 25 yrs boating experience, but always in sea rays...never a real speed boat, so I REALLY appreciate any/all input you guys give me.... thanks agn, and any opinions on the blisters??

So you were going to replace the Corvette motors it came with with different Corvette motors? I'm not following that one??

I brought it!

onpointe 05-29-2009 08:05 PM

Didn't check the original block/head #'s... Already has CARB'd lt-4'S Owner said vette motors, but he thought 70's motors.... INDEED 1997 LT-4 vette engines.... I learned this when my appraiser went thru the boat.... Lucky find huh??? Too fast for me....

onpointe 05-29-2009 08:07 PM

NO JOHNNY G....U SURE HAVEN'T BROUGHT ANYTHING.... All you do is talk crap..... why not go to myspace or something and pick on 15 yr old girls???? U'll get more attention, I PROMISE!!!!!!

johnny g 05-29-2009 08:09 PM

I seem to have gotten your attention

Sick Stinger 05-29-2009 08:12 PM

OK so how fast is to fast. No offence but its a st of small blocks. Can we get some pics and info on build. I mean i had a 93 Velocity with a 1050 589 Blown was a 100+ mph boat and that wasnt fast enough. So unless this is a 200mph boat im not sure its way to fast.
-Mike

fastdonzi 05-29-2009 08:13 PM

Well these corvette motors that won't be replaced by the other corvette motors don't need the pro-chargers. there's nothing in the owners manual that says you have to hold the throttles Wide Open for XX?? amount of time. It's always great to have more power than you need and not use it, rather than need more power and not have it. Had it been slow you'd be spending the jack to make it faster now you don't have too. Just go and enjoy it..

onpointe 05-29-2009 08:23 PM

Its hard NOT to juice her..... I wish i had this power in a hull like a Donzi.... You can TOTALLY TELL its not safe.... Too lose... The owner of the Formula in my marina asked if I was NUTS running that kind of speed in a 25 ft boat.... Is there a way to stabalize the boat?? She is WAY loose... Would REAL trim tabs make that big a difference??? Otherwise, I'll sell it and get a 30 ft plus offshore... I didn't realize how this power would feel in a 25 ft boat.... VERY unstable

onpointe 05-29-2009 08:25 PM

and to 'sick stinger'....I have to crawl before i can run.....100 is truly sick on the great lakes without a catamaran and a seperate throttle man....

Sick Stinger 05-29-2009 08:26 PM

Ok so how much power? What speeds?
-Mike

Sick Stinger 05-29-2009 08:27 PM

Well then get the bottle out of your mouth and get on them 2 feet of yours, Evolution my dear watson we have grown alot of time

articfriends 05-30-2009 12:40 AM

Here's your quote- "Anyone want a Nova that's way faster than it should be?? Was surveyed this morning, and the surveyor said he'd buy it himself if I didn't.."

Call the surveyor and tell him the good news. He can buy it!!

I don't know where you're going with this thread but it smells awful fishy to us.

scarabman 05-30-2009 06:49 AM

Onpointe should set up a race with a certain little Stingray!:gfight:

GO4BROKE 05-30-2009 07:49 AM

Lt4's are 330hp, 340tq. in stock trim.

runafever 05-30-2009 07:59 AM

Question?......If this boat is tooooo fast( 70mph...whatever) with these so called old school Corvette motors... Then how fast did this dude think this boat was going to go with procharged LT-4 motors? Read this guys threads........He throws out a lot of terminology with absolutely no logic. Something is not right here.

The Nova was introduced as the Chevy II in 1961 as a 1962 model, A Super Sport option became available on the Chevy II Nova line in 1963, then chevy built the Nova till 1979. The Chevy and Toyota joint-venture in 1985..made be more about it but you guys get the point...OH hold on now we are talking about a Nova boat not cars..all this talk about corvette motors and nova's got me confused..sorry! J/K
I shouldn't talk I have a old junk wellcraft excalibur.. :grinser010:

Oh yeah didnt the LT4 vette motor have the opti spark just like the LT1..if so good luck with that. Just swaping out a water pump and getting an once of coolant on it would destroy the opti spark, can't image those motors in a boat and what salt water would do to them.

Sick Stinger 05-30-2009 09:01 AM

Hey crap i got a 71 SS with a 388 all i need is 1 more 388 to do 75 mph in a nova.
-Mike P.S. No offence OnPoint but just tell it liek it is 75 isnt that fast but if your not comfy and cozy with the ride sell it dont B.S. anyone and move on to somehting else thats all

tommymonza 05-30-2009 09:06 AM

I will buy your nova if it is what you say it is . Please post pics of the boat and engines.

tommymonza 05-30-2009 09:13 AM

People say they will live fine as long as I don't jump on them out of the hole. I bought the boat yesterday...twin 350's, and I have two nitrous kits (150 hp) that I'm installing today. She ran 59mph on gps the day I bought her...the spray should have me near 70. Thank god she has twins....the alphas will be tested. I did order drive showers as well....these should help??
