I like how they skew statistics too.
Basically if there is any beer or alcohol on your boat
and someone runs into you because they are a moron not because they are drunk with beer on their boat and kills themselves its
an alcohol related fatality EVEN though you were both sober as a judge just because other people on your boat were drinking. Its the same thing they do with cars. Your going 80 down the highway and a plane engine falls on your head it will be a "speed" related accident because you were speeding.
fuggin sickening how we as Americans lose more rights everyday yet noone stands up . Our forefathers would be throwing bleeding hearts and their politicians in the bay and kicking ass.

Just curious. There are mixed messages in this thread. Does anyone here *condone* operating a boat over .10?
Do the stops suck? Sure.
But in a 50 mile area, there have been a few deaths from drunk boaters. That sucks too.

Have you guys been READING what you've been posting?

It's reponses like these that help justify these crackdowns.

Problem is they can give you a dui at ANY level. Even if they just smell it. Its up to their discretion.
And if you are parked and anchored you should be able to do what the **** you want. What next? Cant drink in your house because you might get in your car and drive?
Its called intent.
Your passengers should be able to drink if they want however lately they have been nailing passengers with "public intoxication"
Stupid people will find a way to kill themselves and other people alcohol or no alcohol. Taking away rights and freedoms is NOT the way to stop it.
I am ALL for jailing DRUNK IMPAIRED DANGEROUS drivers.
They are usually easy to spot and stop,no need for Gestapo stops.
Nothing wrong with having a ton of cops out there for that.
Stopping every boat to see how much revenue they can generate is NOT the way to do it.
You say there have been a few deaths from drinking, well hell there have been a few deaths from drownings,,lets make swimming illegal, that will fix everything.
There have been a few deaths from boats going too fast too, lets make anything over idle speed illiegal. That will fix that.
Lets make everything illegal and we can all live safe long lives..
Ever watch the movie Idiocracy?
Its the future..

I think writing tickets is a great way for local gov. to make money!!!

Laws are set up for a reason, wether you agree with them or not is another topic. It amazes me that people complain about getting a ticket! If you obey the law and follow the rules you won't get a ticket. Now, there are definately instances where "judgement calls" are made in the cops favor. Also the reason for even being pulled over in the first can be bogus. I was stopped once and the cop said he got a report that we cut off a tug boat. How the hell do you cut off a tug boat?????? I don't, however believe in excesive enforcement or harasment.

So get your chit straight or Mr. policeman is going to right you a ticket!!
