Have you met a crew that did respect the waterways and the rules? Honestly? :party-smiley-004:

Thats a speed boat?

What a tard. Exactly the type that manages to rear end a school bus stopped with the lights on.

I had a group of newbie CG guys intentionally hose down my entire boat with salt water a few years back, just North of Pier 66 with one of their deep vee zodiac looking boats. My boat was literally brand new, and we were deep in the no wake zone looking at the big "White House" on the corner in neutral. There wasn't much we could do about it unfortunately, besides pull everything out of the boat when we reached the dock, and hose down the whole boat down with fresh water. We never got it totally clean due to the amount of water the hit us with, including the bilge pumps immediately kicking on. They were just some jealous ***s looking for something to take their mind off of their pathetic lives. I have had some very nice coasties since however. These guys were just a group of losers probably headed to clean a ranking officials toilet, so we laughed.....a little.

This big white house? http://www.realtor.com/realestateand...316_1065157773

Only 28mm now......... My uncle lives diagonally across the ICW from it.

Elite Marine 06-29-2009 08:12 PM

Seems like they are recruited just for the bad attitudes. Nothing about protecting, serving or enforcing...just hassling!

customryder 06-29-2009 10:48 PM

they did not even try to slow down.. nice..that wreck is 100% CG fault in my view..

yeaup, just chopping the throttles would have prevented that mess.........

the guy says CG yelled to the motor boater to slow down.....hahahahahaha you can hardly communicate with your own passengers doing 40mph, let alone boat to boat communication or better yet when two boats are at two different angles coming at each other....what a joke

Yep, I figured anyone that remotely knows the area would catch on to my "White House" reference. Your Uncle's place sounds great! Our place is just up the Intracoastal a little more, South of Bahia Mar. :ernaehrung004:

We were just off the Southwest side, so headed North, they came wide to the West, and carved back to the East, totally hosing us literally like an enourmous wave. They also came within a few feet of my starboard side during the stunt.

Believe me, I GET jokes, and it might have been a little humourous had it not been salt water, and a 3 day old Top Gun T/S. They were just being *****s though.

It's sad to see something like that. One would like to think that any officer, be it a coastie or a police officer/dnr would do the right thing and avoid the accident first and then ticket if necessary. Failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision is a ticket able offense, imo with the other guys looking away the responsibility fell on the captain of the CG vessel.

Yeah, you would think........but I guarantee you that captain stuck his chect out, and had that universal thought in his mind that damn near EVERY law enforcement figure gets at some point, "I'm not moving, I'm the law, they can move out of MY way".......aaaaand WHAM. The guy clearly doesn't have a clue of how to operate a boat correctly, no matter what they told him in a classroom somwhere. :readinghelp:

Disagree, it takes two to have an accident like that. Either one could have avoided it.

Wrong

In that situation, the CG vessel was the "Stand down" vessel !
100% the CG captains fault.. he should be in prison for attempted murder ..

I would have followed them, got all their badge numbers and filed charges.. these hardons are worse than any incompetent boater !

I am not questioning the rules of the road.

These two people were visible to each other for more than a mile. Stupid is stupid.

No excuse for what the Capt. of the 30+ foot CG vessel did to the two guys in the 18 foot plastic boat..
Why would you bear down on someone like that? Unless you intended to cause them harm.

This clip was posted a year or two ago. I think that someone said the CG was responding and had their lights on. Which is still not an excuse.

I believe the speedboat would have have been run down by a supertanker had one been there as they were so engrossed with whatever was to their starboard.

You can not gamble your life on other people observing the "rules". Either one could have backed off until they understood the others intentions.

More excuses.. Anyone with a concience would have chopped the throttles or jerked the wheel LONG before t-boning the small boat.
Were they looking away? Yes. STILL no excuse for how that Capt responded.

I really did think of doing that, and would have thouroughly enjoyed every second of it.

The problem is that part of the intracoastal is all no wake, and can be pretty crowded. Since they were heading North, I would have had to chase them through some pretty narrow areas at a fairly high speed, which would not only be dangerous as hell to any other boaters, but they probably would have REALLY f-cked my day up with a massive ticket, or more likely a trip to jail. Then, my new boat would have been impounded by a bunch of dipchits, that you KNOW would have trashed it if they're so petty to have done the initial stunt in the first place.

Even though I had witnesses on the boat, one being an attorney, they could easily just say they were in pursuit of something, making anyone in their path fair game. I don't think there's anything I could have done, short of having it all on video unfortunately.

I can only hope the MFer's were green horns, and had the occupation of cleaning holding cells for Cuban immigrants after their long float over on a schoolbus.

Not any positive experiences with CG EVER, until now.

This weekend we were stopped in Milwaukee, WI - typical "Vessel Safety Check" BS

My buddies wife has the registration out before they can even ask. The boat has a Vessel Safety sticker that my friend told them he just received two weeks ago. They said "that's from the Coast Guard Auxiliary and doesn't count" These guys were so excited, they had the clipboard out and were like little puppies peeing themselves to get on the boat!!

Finally a sensible guy said to all of them - inspecting a vessel that already has the sticker defeats the purpose of the program. "You folks have a nice evening."

First reasonable CG I ever saw. Probably the last too!
