I have 100ton papers and I would NEVER take an action I knew to be against Maritime law. I don't care if it's the owner himself, I am the Captain and I say what goes and what doesn't go on the vessel. If he wants to replace me at the end of the voyage fine, but while I am the Captain I give the orders not the owner.

NO, you can't.............. The basin is protected on one side by a piece of land owned by the Army Corp.s of Engineers. Coming from the North (East) you can't tell you are about to enter a "slow" zone at all. Coming from the other direction (heading North) it is fairly obvious, there is a long stretch of fixed dock on the left side.
Again though, the signage down there is total schit, always has been. Over the years private land owners have tried to put up no wake signs, and "you are responsible for your wake" signs, no one pays attention until you get right up near the Chesapeake City bridge though.
