Question Best Lake in the Roanoake, VA area.

I'm from NY and selling my 1999 Baja H2X to a guy from New Orleans and we have agreed to meet half way which would be Roanoake, VA. I've agreed to take him for a ride and show him the ropes and was wondering what bodies of water are in the Roanoake, VA area. A small lake would be great. Just something to show him the ropes, something that isn't too rough.

Thanks,
Dave

Kirch,

Smith Mountain Lake is the closest and best to Roanoke, about 25min to 45min depending on launch area from roanoke. Actually their will be allot of us there on May 17-18 for the SML Poker Run and I currently live on SML. SML has about 500 miles of shore line and plenty of room to open your boat up.

I agree with 27Fountain. Smith Mountain Lake is your place. I went to college in the Roanoke area (Roanoke College in Salem, VA) and spent many a weekend at the lake.

Thanks for the reponses guys. Now that I've found a Lake any idea where the best place to launch would be. I'll be coming from NY and the other guy from New Orleans so something that would be easy for both of use to get to. I'm not sure how the lake is shaped or oriented but I'll be coming from NY and he'll be coming from New Orleans so something that would work for both would be great. However, if there isn't such thing I'll take the one closer to NY.

Thanks Again,
Dave
