Default Best route from NYC-> Babylon NY

I'm going to go take a look at a Skater in Babylon NY. What's the best route from Chelsea Piers (NY Harbor) to Babylon?

Winds are out of the west and I'm in a 20' donzi, so I need to avoid big stuff.

Thanks!

i think your gonna hit big stuff no matter what, just coming out of NY harbor. Dont know if I'de do that trip in a 20 footer. Winds out of the west will make your return trip nasty.

I wouldnt be going to babylon from chelsea piers in a 20ft donzi. The ocean kicks up in the afternoons heading east.

Personally, I would use a bridge, or a tunnel!!

Best route...Chelsea Piers to Verrazano Bridge. From the Verrazano ride the Brooklyn side toward Rockaway inlet keep going to East Rockaway Inlet then keep going to Jones Inlet. It's approx. 50 miles. The good thing is that if it's rough you have inlets that are not too far from each other and tomorrows Ocean forecast is looking good.
As far as avoiding the Big Stuff you could probably go in the East Rockaway inlet and ride the inside to Babylon(need to map it). But no way to avoid NY harbor and a little bit of Ocean.

Should be fine today.
Just stay within a mile of the beach.

Sounds like you have a Donzi Minx. Cool boat. Skater is a different beast altogether.
