288 Sunsation, but you REALLY owe it to yourself to check out a 26' Sonic. Give Offshore Performance a call, just to see what they have available. Do not buy a 28 Sonic, as you will be shooting yourself for not buying a 31.

Ask for Frank or Hugh.

I have a 26 Sonic, and could not be more pleased!

Both the Sunsation and Baja are good boats. I would recommend the Sunsation but if bought new would expect it to be more expensive than the Baja. I f available in your area, I would also look at the Formula 271, Powerquest 280 Silencer, and Velocity 280. The more you ride in, the better your decision will be. Where you're going to use it, how you're going to use it, and the importance of top speed will determine the best choice for you.

Good luck ...

Get the Sunsation. You won't see them EVERYWHERE, it is a great boat. The glass work looks to be top notch, and the equipment / hardware they use is top shelf. Plus the "look" of the boat is one of the best looking boats around. . . .period!

I haven't ridden in one for about 2 years, but one of our club members has a 2001 288 and he loves it.
He runs it hard when the waters are rough and he has the biggest s**t eating grin. . . . .

Plus at re-sale time, the Sunsation will probably bring you a better return.

But after listening to all the advice, go drive both and see what feels the best to you. Everyone here is an "expert" (cough, cough) but only you will know what is the right boat for you. Every boat has it's + and -, What is important to me may not matter to you.
The best of luck to ya. Please post what you end up with, and no matter WHAT you get, have fun with it.

Length: 27'7" without the swim platform.

Ride: Yesterday in wind blown 3-4's I was cruising comfortably at 53-55 with plenty of comfort throttle left . My passenger couldn't believe how great we were running in those waters as I was showing him the fine art of tab & trim. The 25 Baja wouldn't have been nowhere in sight period...The boat has fantastic balance...

Weight: Just weighed it at 4850 lbs dry and 5506 wet at the nearby calibrated/certified truck scales. The old brochures need updating...

Speed: 69.2 (old non-WAAS GPS) with stock 24p Bravo prop in ideal conditions. 68.5-8 with full bag and passengers anytime. It's got a 496HO (425hp)...

Value, paint, riggidity of hull and all those things mentioned above. Or else dig a little deeper in your pockets for the nicer boats with nicer vinyl aestetics....

I would take you up on that one with my 25 Outlaw.

If limited to those two, I would chose the Sunsation over the Baha. But if you are still open you mite look in to a Donzi 26 ZX like Bryan's. There are awsome in the rough and...Well I am a little biased...but they are one of the best built boats out on the water. But back to the subject, The Sunsation is going to have a little better resale value, due to the fact that there are much fewer of them, as well as the reasons that are listed above.

Rick...How fast do you think your 288 would be with a few more ponies??? Say 500 to 510HP at the prop?
