Just a little feedback from a forum (not my opinion) from a recent South Florida event:
"... and after the Poker Run I was just at, they can keep their Sonics, Sunsations, Bajas and Velocitys. The only boat that had a single engine in that run and took me (a Donzi) in the roug water was a Pantera. The Sonic and Velocity looked like a bouncing ball and the Sunsation was bouncing from side to side and that was at 45MPH! The Baja was a 29 Outlaw and he looked like a rag doll. Those guys couldn't get to 55 like I could. The water was 4-6ft and was a pure washing machine. We got wet! But she rode straight tight and Strong!" Best advice is to drive all of the models that you are considering and then decide. Each owner has their own obvious preference but only you can decide... Good luck! |

Why put off the inevitable? Just trade your Sea Ray in for a Sunsation NOW, and then tow it to Havasu for the Heat Wave Poker Run! :D :D I'm sure you wouldn't have to twist LutzParty's arm to much:rolleyes: :cool: |
well for me if I was in the market for 28 ft boat, it would have twin engines, like a daytona 28, the two boats are different style and deadrise, hull you name it, they are both good boats, but i would go for a ride in each, then make up my mind

Liquid, if you're doing 68-69 on a 24 footer in "real" 3-4 sea's like I know 3-4 sea's (some tend to exaggerate on here :eek: ), then my hats off to you and that 24. My personal experience and witnessing leads me think otherwise. Perhaps it's our "sea's" definition. Damn, I might have been in 5-7's!...:D But if you're right, I think I'll buy back down to the Baja 24. They're much cheaper on gas and easier to tow...;)
FlyinBrian, where do you run your 25 at in central Ohio? We have a 252 Boss here in our club (custom motor maybe 80mph). Didn't see much of him last year but I'll see a lot this year... Vype, they all bounce and they all walk. Just get in a trough with left or right sea's and some speed. Even a 34. It just depends on which snap shot in time we choose to recall, or quote an obvious Donzi fan who happens to like Pantera's as well. I bet I could sight them and others, walk and bounce a little if that's what I was really looking for...:p mlitefan, I don't know what 500+ would do, but I suspect high 70's or definitely over 80 at 550+, considering a single HP500 will push it to 73-76 (each boat being a tad different). BTW, how was the fishing trip? Or have you gone yet? You should get onboard with our 20 July rendezvous with the RPBA if you haven't already...See ya at Kerr.... Rick |
I think they are both great looking boats, but I would choose the Sunsation. It is bigger with a really nice cabin and with the same power it will be faster. I think you can probably get the 28.8 cheaper or the same price as the Baja. More boat for the money.
69 on GPS , is that in salt water ? The one at my marina is only running 65-66 with a 496ho. Regardless it is still a great looking boat. |
