Radar Shootout in Virginia a few season ago: The prop blade literally tore off as we were coming into the marina at the end of the day. As it was tearing off it came around on a couple passes and sliced up the cavitation plate and drive shower, destroying the lower case.

Different trip on the Potomac River right outside of DC. Outer bell housing just snapped in half; no impact, no lower, no prop damage. It just came apart & drive was suspended by bellows and steering rams. Fortunately no bellows compromise and only a few hundred yards from the ramp. I felt the steering get heavy and sluggish about 2 miles from the ramp. I got within a few hundred yards and came off plane. Everything looked fine with a quick peek over the transom. When I tried to get on plane again, the drive shaft just slid right out. I am fairly certain it snapped a couple miles back while on plane and the prop thrust kept the drive shaft fully in the coupler.
