Why Me?

No mater what I do, how much I spend, how much time and maintenece we do, how come every time I try to go something like this has to happen?

Just spent weeks trying to get the boat ready for Sarasota.
Yesterday put all new bearings, brakes and tires on the trailer. This morning I went "ONE SMALL BLOCK"
went to stop in front of my house to load my suitcase and BOOM!!!!

TxHawk 10-02-2009 10:50 AM

While that is terrible luck, you are blessed today. What if.........

US1 Fountain 10-02-2009 10:50 AM

Damn, be thankkful it happened there on not on the road.

Pro1 10-02-2009 10:51 AM

That 3 inch by 3 inch 1/4 wall aluminum square tube of 6061 broke. What does that support 14,000lbs? Go figure what a surprise.

Wally 10-02-2009 10:51 AM

WOW! Time to rename yourself "The God of Carnage!" ;)

NKissau 10-02-2009 10:51 AM

Only you Gino! Thank god it wasn't on the highway:eek:

Smarty 10-02-2009 10:53 AM

Yes, I do believe God was with you..., no injury, no real damage other than the actuator becoming dislodged. Gratitude and thanks. The sun will shine on you shortly. It is just a small stumbling block my brotha!

When I feel the "why me's," I humble myself. I read were you came from and what you overcame in Poker Runs America magazine a few years ago, so this is small, small potatoes. Here is some Gospel inspiration for you. Small test(s) will make you stronger.

Gino, don't complain....that little mishap may have saved the day....imagine you rollin down 75 N, and you clear the little ''bridge bumps'' that are there @ 75MPH, and boom.....off the boat goes completely ''out of control''....I feel your pain, but you just may have saved the day! With that being said....looks like you actually have someone looking over ya!

Yeah, but we would have had some killer pictures!!!

88Fount33 10-02-2009 11:02 AM

Had this happened at speed on the interstate would bring to mind the song "Ain't no stopping us now"...would make you wanna dance the St. Vitus on the side of the road.

crazyfast 10-02-2009 11:03 AM

Haha, the best one ,no doubt, would be the one on your face as you watch if go thru the fence and into the everglades...I'm sure the portable welding crew is already en route to your block...have a great weekend in Sarasota!!

Brad Zastrow 10-02-2009 11:04 AM

That is not the tilt trailer. Really lucky it happened at home. Are you still going to Sarasota?

Waterboy123 10-02-2009 11:06 AM

With that rig, (truck and boat) it might be a good time to go goose neck... I actually would count that one as good luck!! might not seem it at the time though...

We use the aluminum trailer in Florida. Too much of a pain to find a crane to put launch us with the tilt. I have 3 of my guys on it. We are still going to try to make it. The worst part is the truck. The left side of the bed buckeled.

panicrev 10-02-2009 11:18 AM

atleast you have a boat. i have 80g in debt to my parents for a divorce. i barely make 39. your problems are a dream to me...

sellsman11 10-02-2009 11:28 AM

It's an anti-theft tactic, much like the removable Grant steering wheels and pull-out car stereos back in the day.

STOW-away Tongue; only by Myco.
It comes with it's own backpack. :lolhit:

Lake Rat 10-02-2009 04:06 PM

Gino,

Call me and i'll let you use my truck and the deck boat. Registered 42 mph on the gps. You will enjoy seeing all the scenery at SARASOTA.

jayboat 10-02-2009 10:20 PM

Good luck, Gino. Hope it works out.

LubeJobs42 10-02-2009 10:27 PM

The good luck turned bad. I had 2 of my guys working on re-attaching the tongue so we could get the boat back to the shop. The were putting a 2.5" square steel tube into the 3.5" broken AL square. My main guy Carlos that handles all the boat stuff for me was working on the tube and the other guy which has only been working for us for 1 day was taking apart the old broken tongue. Not sure exactly what happened but the tounge shifted and the new guy lost 2 of his finger tips.
He's a good ole county boy and wanted to wrap his shirt around his hand and keep working. I had them drag him to the ER. When I got there his fingernails were in the street. I can't believe this happened to this poor guy on hos first day/
I called him tonight to see how he was doing. He appologized for not finishing the job and said if i give him one more chance he will never let something like this happen again. OBVIOUSLY he is not from south Florida. Normally they go to th lawyer first, then the ER!

TOASTY 10-02-2009 10:53 PM

no way this has got to be an early april fools...finger nails...good one

I certainly agree with that!! Can a gooseneck be welded on that trailer? If it can you might think about that. I much prefer towing on the axle than the bumper.

tomas_wallin 10-03-2009 12:31 AM

Talk about lucky! You got to be very happy that the damage the bed was the only damage.

Do you have any close up pics of the old tongue and the broken beam? It looks waaaay to weak, on the pics, to handle that kind of weight! Especially if it's aluminium...

bojoe2 10-03-2009 09:10 AM

all i can say is WOW it can only happen to you Gino
