At least those self inflating jackets are comfortable to wear, and easy to get on & off. One of those would be plenty for the size of boat and boaters they are targeting. You definitely wouldn't need a race style Lifeline jacket, or anything that serious. We use Lifelines in my 20 Cigarette, but it also runs 85mph. Most people including myself want to wear the jackets in that particular boat, regardless of if there were a rule in place or not.

Most fisherman/hunters I see around here, use the jackets that double as a vest with pockets that store bait, hooks, etc, as well as provide floatation all in one.

It won't be that big of a deal when you get used to it.

HabanaJoe I agree with you 100%

One Big Ass Mistake America (Obama) is really just a party mouth piece. You would see a lot less of that if they were held liable for all the broken promises.

ok, they make you wear a life jacket to save a life ! but (yes there's always a but) that comes from the same lawmakers that think it's ok for the gov. to subsidise the tobacco companies and kill people every day go figure !!!

It's just a stepping stone for the next level. PFD's for everybody on every boat at all times. I kind of see there point for this new law ( as long as it goes no further ), in cold water your extremeties shut down pretty quick and a life jacket could really help. But if and when they take the next step of this law, where does it end? More people drown swimming at ocean beaches than on boats, are they going to make the thousands of swimmers at Jones Beach wear life jackets before going in to bodysurf or cool off ? Exaggerated, but the same basic idea.
