Todays stronges performance boat co.
In todays Market who is getting along the best and is the most stable? with the most sales profit? strongest?
|
Out of all of those I'd say Skater for Cats and just overall and then Outerlimits for Vee's. Also Nor-Tech for the mix of both. Those are the top three.
|
You're comparing custom vs. production. I'd go with Formula if they were on the list.
ed |
I'll go ahead and get it out of the way now.........
APACHE:lolhit: |
Formula already laid off 225 people earlier this year. They can't be doing good, but they do still have a good luxury market compaired to other performance boat companies. I would think Cigarette would be the last one to fail because of the name brand . Jeff Wurl
|
If you talk to anyone that is in the know, they'll tell you no one is doing "good". Heads of performance boating company's that are on your list have been quoted as saying, "if we break even, we'll be happy". When people sit back and speculate at who's doing well, I don't think they take into account that the recent closure of some major dealers have put an additional damper on the bottom line (i.e. returned floored models).
I say, best of luck to all that are on that list. Will they all be here in 2-5 years? I hope so....But highly doubt it. By the way, did you actually put Fountain on this list?? WTF? |
LOl@Fountain.
Skater for cats(results speak for themselves) Cigarette for Vs(Big name and big overseas market) Nor-Tech for overall. |
DCB is booked for a year
|
Nortech is producing boats, several new ones delivered this year. Sunsation is building another F4 and working on the new 36 (with a couple already pre-sold).
All of the boat builders are hurting and the ones with the best accounting and lowest overhead will be the survivors. If they aren't building/selling boats they are losing money simply due to fixed overhead costs. You would be surprised to know how many boat companies that have been around for years (legends) are very thinly capitalized. |
[QUOTE=fountain40icbm;2968722]Out of all of those I'd say SKATER
OH YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:boat::ernaehrung0 04::ernaehrung004::ernaehrung004: |
I have heard Formula is out / getting out of the go fast boats. Too expensive to update their molds / not enough demand.
|
I would think only the very high end custom boat manufactures will be the ones that survive in the long run. What I see is that a lot of people got into performance boating because of easy loans and cheap gas.
No more easy loans, and as soon as the economy picks back up we will see $4:00 a gallon gas again. There might be a place for some small lake rockets but only a small percentage of people will be able to run larger offshore boats. But then again, who knows, China and India will be moving up, maybe we can sell them boats.:drink::drink::drink: BTW Why Fountain we know they filed? |
Sunsation has many orders they are working on. Skater will always be busy.
|
How come Bayliner isnt on that list???:drink:
|
Outerlimits has plenty of orders as well!
|
Fountain by Oxford!

HA! From the people on the inside I've talked to Cigarette is doing fine....I mean sh!t, they've sold 9 Marauders over the past couple years at 1million + a boat. The over seas market has kept them ahead of others for the past couple years but now the economy has hit the over seas markets as well. Things will slow but I see Cigarette pulling through the economy. On the other hand, I've heard horror stories about other brands listed on that list. Companies that have just built big new buildings or that have just recently had to take back several flooring models, I'd be worried about.
Like I said, if everyone can just cover their over head, they'll make it through. ... and there we go!!!!! i knew you had it in 'ya! :drink: |

BTW,
I stopped by "Other" last week to see how they were doing. I see they've moved into 4th in poll I could spread some rumors about them but probably shoudn't. |
Doesn't Nor-Tech have a nice fat Govt. contract for CC's? They got my vote!

That was coming from the tongue in my cheek.
I just like stirrin it up! |
I can't believe 5 people actually voted for Fountain! I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that!:picard1:
I'm a big Baja fan and if this poll was posted 2 years ago I'd say they would've been counted in the upper 10% of people thinking they were doing well. Just goes to show, you never really know what is going on behind the curtains. Hey Terry, care to stir it up a bit more?? Why did Nor-Tech pull their line from Fastboats?? Just curious, never heard the official story I don't think. |

None are doing good or you would see them talking it up. Now some are surviving, and those are the ones who saved for a rainy day that turned into a monsoon. I would expect the smaller guys who have their building, molds, paid for and no dealer Floor to buy back are the ones surviving. Their is one on that list, that if they have to buy back just the boats LCM had I imagine they will go out of business.
Still a massive amount of fallout coming through from dealers that has not hit all builders yet. |

Sounded like Reggie wanted the same group to buy him out. To bad I was all ready with my new truck sticker.:drink::drink: |
TS- That was WAAAYYY too deep for the LIGHT entertainment that people use this site for.
Although, I bet OTHER will be making a strong PR showing for Key West.:lolhit::party-smiley-004: |
Nordic is doing well with more models to offer than any other brand out there. They are building new boats every day.
