BCP30 Deck Plug Being Built
5 Attachment(s)
Here's some pics of the new deck plug being built for the new DCP30. The hull female mold has already been built with a single step and two hulls pulled All viynlester and balsa cored. Foam Stringers & Transom. Deck should be completed and female deck mold built by late November. Looking to have the first two boats ready for rigging by Christmas. Approximatre hull and deck weight should be around 2400LBS. First boat will have a Carolina Racing 850HP coupled to a #6 drive.

You built this yourself?? I'm impressed:drink: Looks very nice, I hope this is a fun venture.
|
Any pictures of the Hull Plug being built?
|
It looks like to Phantom 30 / Extreme 29 pleasure boats.....
|
Will that engine/drive be a little heavy for the boat? Maybe the pics deceive the hull depth.
|
Looks like a great idea, a competitor to the Howard 28 and other single engine stepped deep vees.
Who is building it? BCP? DCP? PCP? DCB? |

Sorry for the quality on some of the pics. Taken with my phone. Deck plug completed last week, polished and ready to go. Had to hold off on the start of laying up the mold because of low temperatures down here over the past few days. Definate overrun on hours getting this deck plug completed but well worth it as it is absolutely straight. The first few hulls are being built from a leased mold which has been modified. Pics of the hull will follow.

Pva & Tooling Gel
2 Attachment(s)
Deck got another couple of coats of wax today. Pva & tooling gel were applied earlier today but this particular pva didn't like a fat coat of gel and aligatored. Waited for the gel to harden and peeled it off. Washed down the deck and sprayed the partall pva. Tooling gel is going on in a couple of thinner coats right now.
Here's a couple of pics |
A nice style.
Why would you wax and PVA? Wouldnt it be one or the other? maybe thats the cause of the gatoring. will the transom and stringers only be cored in foam? Any ideas to put wood stringers in? good luck!! |
Thanks, Hull & deck will be fully balsa cored. High density core transom, stringers & bulkheads.
Because of it being a new plug and using a not so standard 'trial' finiish coat, I took the advise to use the PVA as added insurance to pull freely. I've used Pva on a couple of previous plugs but prefer not to use it as it does affect the finish of the mold. |
looks like a very interesting project. Best of luck.
thanks for your comments. |
Looks very cool, is this going to be a two seater, sit down??

No problems releasing the mold. The finish in these pics is the PVA still stuck to the gelcoat. I washed a few areas and the finish is beautiful. The whole mold needs a good wash down to remove the reat of the PVA.

That is sharp!

Looks like a very updated version of a 29 progression with some serious attitude. Cant wait for the finished product! What's the expected speeds?
|
Looking good Chris.........I love the look of the stern. Did you ever get any answers to your questions?
|
Thanks for the comments. The first boat will be light (approx 2300LBS) LOA 29'7'' X 7' 10". Expecting speeds in the low 90's with a 525EFI/Bravo ITS on a standoff box. This may sound like a tall order but I'm determined. I've been playing around with the bottoms on similar cc hulls (steps and pads) over the past couple of years with good results.
jdub.... Thanks buddy. With the info in the link you had posted and vectorlam software, I got it figured out |
