Interesting, in fact the sequence of arming and activation seems relative to incorporating your two speed transmission in total design. Of course, it's understood you've thought of that.
Another possible benefit includes insurance. It may be argued that because the system is designed to operate in mode "A" until specific parameters are met, the result will be lesser speed. When specific parameters are met the system will switch to mode "B", resulting in greater speed. However, the psychological value includes an automatically controlled reminder that the system is now/about to use fuel that may be lesser available, durability of components (engine,drives and etc.) is being effected and cost of operation has/is increasing.
We have been searching for concepts/design to consider as we build a set of spare engines. The Dual Fuel system is one that we consider interesting, in pursuit of durability.
