Unhappy Tampa 'Fast Ferry' has moved...

CLICK

Well, after almost a year of waiting it seems that the FastCats high-speed ferry service has moved it's operations to Fort Meyers.

That's too bad...I know a lot of folks here in the area were anxiously awaiting this boat. Promises of "Key West in less than 3 Hours" are no more! Oh Well. Leaving from Fort Meyers pretty much negates the usefullness of this ferry for those of us in this area.

BTW, doesn't Fort Meyers already have ferry service to Key West??

I hear ya, buddy!
I was really psyched about it. It would have been perfect for those little weekend getaways to Key West. Now it's back to driving which requires more time than a weekend...

Ya...Hell, who needs 'em right...Forget the luxury 120'er with first-class lounge and cocktails and hors'devoirs...We'll just take the 25, no problemo!

Jeff from Sarasota on this board had some contacts with the Fast Cats team...Perhaps he could shed some light!

Hey Nick..whats up?
WHATS WRONG WITH FT MYERS?????????? been on the news down here...havent paid too much attention, but it sounds like the other company went tits up and this guy is taking over. I guess the city owns the facility and fast cats is leasing or something like that..Its still a 5 hour drive from here so it'll save a bunch of time.

Hey Dan!
Good to hear from you! You've been quiet! How have you guys been?

Anyway, I see what you're saying BUT...

I can make it to Key West in 6.5 hours from here. That was with a half hour fuel stop/break. It's two hours to Ft Meyers. I have nothing against it, just that for all intents and purposes we would be well on the way. From Ft Meyers we would have another appx 4 hours to go. To pay $140 round trip to save one to one and a half hour just isn't worth it. Plus I'm sure it costs to park the vehicle at the port...It comes down to a fine line. It would be a great ride I'm sure.
