As Dyno said, SuperV had one of his fresh 454's dyno'd at Earhart Engineering. Thanks go to Tom Earhart for taking time on a beautiful Saturday to do this for us.
RPM C.TQ C.HP F.C FUEL
1500 375 107 0.68 68
2000 431 164 0.59 90
2500 466 222 0.51 105
3000 503 288 0.45 120
3500 499 333 0.47 145
4000 509 387 0.50 180
4500 506 433 0.47 192
5000 510 485 0.45 205
5500 482 505 0.46 215
5750 428 469 0.48 210
Correction factor of 1.07/1
EGT peaked at 1350
89 octane fuel
32 degress total advance
All marine accessories and pumps were in place and operating during the runs including the stock flame arrestor, and per Tom Earhart's info, the dyno headers used perform very similar to the Lightning headers on the boat. A last pull was made without the flame arrestor to see if there was any difference in performance. Horsepower was EXACTLY THE SAME with the stock flame arrestor removed.

It should be added that we didn't run just a blank carb for the last pull, we installed (duct tape eh?? LOL!!) a velocity stack. Cool looking piece, but no help!!! The motor looked faster though.

Yeah, well, the point to the flame arrestor thing is that it don't necessarily gotta look cool to do an ok job. It was chrome though, wasn't it?

Yeah, but if no one can see it does the chrome really make it faster? Kinda like the tree that falls when no one sees it. Does it make noise if no one hears it? Drugs, where'd I put my drugs?
