Pistons are not the weak link!!!! All the comments above are dead on. Back it down to 5-6 lbs of boost and let it eat. Still should make 670 hp depending on cam. At 7 lbs you WILL push a headgasket.

I appreciate the input from everybody 5lbs it is. I run 93 octane, it is avaible on every other corner. I wasnt sure to rebuild a perfect running engine for 2 extra ilbs of boost or leave it alone and spend money elsewere

You go from 91 to race gas out here.

Its not an issue of paying for good fuel, its an issue of availability.

Yea, what's up with that Dave? Is it because our politicians are environmental communists?

No 93 octane around here either anymore. We had Amoco Ulimate at 92 octane until last Spring, but now even that is 91 too.

I agree with what Smitty said in post #7 except when I had my whippled 502 I had the heads ring cut for the Fel Pro Loc Wire head gaskets. 6 lb boost, 8.75 pistons, 93 octane.

Im not sure what the deal is.
Its likely more market factor than anything else.

Performance Autos are are being mfgr'd to tolerate 91, and its cheaper for the oil companies to produce.
