My 40th Boat
Here we go again. I just had my 62nd birthday 2 days ago. I am in the process of getting my 40th boat project going. I say this in all humility because you must be pretty dumb to this 40 times. I admit that I am including 4 jet skis, 3 flatbottoms, 4 pontoons, a variety of bass boats (some ran over 100mph), 6 Hydrostreams (I turned one of these over backward and almost died), 4 Allisons, a 119mph Mirage tunnel with a 280 Merc, 1 Blown small block Stingray, a 565 Whippled Lavey Craft cat, a 24 Nu Era Lavey with an Ilmor 710, etc. My wife of 41 years has been patient to a fault. This is, I hope-she hopes, my last. I don't mean that in a fatal way.
The plan. I have purchased an engine that Dustin Whipple just finished getting off the dyno today. A 509 bbc, 4.0 Whipple, big throttle body, Brodix heads, MOAC, CMI Big Tubes, forged crank, great rods. I will post a build sheet and a dyno sheet when I get them. I take no credit for this set up. Mike Pyle and Dustin did the whole thing. The hp number was 1023 at 6400 rpm. I don't know the torque yet.
I am ordering a, hopefully, light weight Lavey Craft 2750 midcuddy. An IMCO SCX upper and IMCO SC lower and an IMCO box complete the outdrive. I will do pictures and more info as it becomes available.
So, there you have it. Time will tell. Quent

Very true, we just hit the 10 year mark in Dec. 09, and she still puts up with my BD, (Boating Diesase) and all my other quirks!
