Who manages this site?????

I'm just wondered I know IB took over the site from Steve but how does the moderator Hierarchy work. Does one person have say over everyone else?? Do the advertisers have say because they spend money??? Is someone above everyone else??? I remember when I joined it was different now if you have a valve spring for sale and mention it your thread is gone. I will never pay to be a member here again because I could get booted at any time and it would be a waste of money just because someone disagrees with me. I'm sure IB does not care because they get there money from the traffic by sellling ads. But a few people here take it way to seriously. Yes people still come here but like me I get about 2% boating info from this site and 98% bs. I actually come here to see drama as obviously everyone does just look at the most popular threads. I just wondered if there is one induvidual to thank for turning this into a gossip website with 2% actual info.

Oh yeah I almost forgot all the ads make the speed slow I visit this ite 10 extra times a day (which I'm sure everyone does it make the traffic look like a lot more for the advertisers when you are forced to close out and come back) It took 3 minutes after I hit submit for this to post and I have the highest speed dsl there is to have.

That is why people are migrating over to the "other site"

Well I will try and answer some of your questions.

1) Most of the moderators that Steve had in place are still in place. There have been a few small changes but for the most part they are the same.

2) If you paid to advertised aupolstry for example, and some other guy came on and just put a post up that did not pay, wouldn't you be a little concerned? If they see a post that they feel

3) No one is above anyone else. We try and moderate based on the rules that everyone reads when they sign up.

4) What we have all talked about is that if some one is LOOKING for a valve spring , boat, heads, crank..... and you respond to a post that some one else has saying that you have what they are looking for, that is ok. If you start a thread that says the same thing it is going to be removed unlesss you put it in the swap shop or classifieds. This really is no different then any of the other sites.

5) We do not ban people easily and there are almost always a number of warnings that go out, especially paying members.

6) Content of this site is made up from it's memebers. It always has been. If you want to read something different start a thread.

7) While speed of the site has been bad in the past it currently is operating fast. I am on a 6 year old computer and have very few issues with the site. You may want to check into your computer. If you need help we are more then happy to help as much as we can.

Do moderators get paid ?? (I always wondered) or do you get abused for free LOL

Audiofn 01-10-2010 07:42 AM

We take the abuse for free and we like it!!!! LOL

Like Audio said.... the members are the ones who make up the content of the site so since YOU are coming here for drama (your words), YOU are one who has helped make it a gossip site.

Nothing is any different that its ever been.... The only difference is one of your friends is on a time out so that affects you. Remember Steve banning Ratman? Lots of people liked Phil too but he refused to follow the rules. Bill (RHR) knew what he was doing ... he knew what was going to happen but he did it anyway. We talked about it in Key West. He's a smart guy.... He knows the deal

Audio I am going to have to disagree, I was a paying member for 9years. I know of one moderator who will delete your post if he doesn't like it, and I am sure their is more than one person doing this. I have also seen threads go POOF seriously for no real reason. Also when I was a paying member "one post wonders" would start a bunch of crap and I would pm OSO about getting an IP address who trying to track them down, to NO HELP. I go to other sites, but still enjoy this one, OSO just got to big and like the rest of the good old USA no body cares.

I have to agree with the comments about adding/answering posts. I access OSO from 3 places daily and all 3 TAKE VERY LONG when I hit the submit button. Many times it will not go at all. Please tell me what is causing that to happen ??? I know that it is not a problem on my end.

Everytime I post it is very fast.

Edit: It took one second for the post to load. Comcast cable and a five year old computer.
