Play it smart...make sure you call some of the people your surveyor has dealt with before hiring them. I got burned royal on a boat out of NY...a 36' Chris Craft Roamer (64'), the only thing I cared about having surveyed was the hull...I even told him I would pay to have it sounded...he failed miserably...the boat was delivered to me with a hole in the hull and significant damage from rust and corrosion...he never returned my calls...waste of $600 and got myself a real gem of a classic cruiser...I had it cut in half and salvaged...complete loss!!
