I don't think they could really deny your claim. It depends on what your claim is and what your claim is for. What I've always done is lied about Hp. I give them the base Hp that the boat came with, and don't mention any motor upgrades. How am I supposed to know that adding a stroker kit makes more Hp? I just thought it magically went faster!

My 90+mph 29 Outlaw is about $1800 a year with American Reliable. 100% honest with HP & speed.
Oh, my 29 is for sale too!

I have never seen a claim get denied within reason. Even if i had to prove it, simply toss in 4000rpm chip and done.

Yeah... It might have something to do with MI law. I had friends that had "4cyl. mustangs" that went 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile (8.90's to 9.30's... they were really stroked Windsor motors.. 408 ci.). They would get them appraised with all their new motor parts and insure it as a reg. 4cyl mustang. One of them got stolen and the Ins. Co. paid out $20k on a car they were insuring for a couple of hundred dollars a year.

Were you paying the premium of filing a claim when they told you that??? and if it is not in writing..it means nothing...

That's not true! What your salesperson tells you is definitely part of the bargain... And it's generally part of their records, as long as it was over the phone.

Ive have had Allstate for years insuring my Top Gun, Granted i started with 16', then 22 with a 454, then a 25 Nordic with a 496 HO and have had no issues even though the Cig is on a hit list with them. Even though im an agent with them, these days im not even sure theyd cover it. But Progressive does insure many HP boats depending in driving history, etc. Good luck
