I think your heads and carb mite be why your tq is a little low. Jim Ried built my last three motors out of whitman mass. the last one a 509 dynoed at 647hp and 637tq with thebg 850 with the 1050 it made about 30hp more my heads were merlin with the 310. the motor that Dean Gellner is building for me has the big heads like yours but its a blown 572. also I tried a comp cam once with 110 and was bad around the docks Iwent to a isky cam much better more hp but it came in 112 or 114 I took the 114 so Ilost a little on low end but you can't tell and much better around the docks. for speed 78 to 82. but I would call rmbuilder ask if he thinks theres a better cam for you and go to 1050s Ihave to for sale that came off my blower that you just need to put a rebuild kit on both shipped 800.00 or if you want new call Dean he sells CFM carbs there real nice thats what I bought for the 509 last year. art

850's are not Dominator carbs. Dominator's/4500's start at 1050cfm. I think you need a lot more carb than an 850.

Wink Devils in The Details!

I think that combination should be producing more torque at 3500-4500 rpms. I am not a fan of the cam spec. but I think Bob at RM Builders can get you a better stick.
You might want to also look at the intake manifold for runner length and runner volume as well as use a higher cfm carb on that cubic inch combo. Torque is really what makes boats perform and its also what helps break drives, but that a whole other issue. Just some random two cent blips!

Sounds like a nice project and I am sure that Cig will have good legs when you're done.

Best Regards,

I'm running N/A 565's single carb, CNC bb2 brodix heads, .720 in/ex solid cam with 8.5 to 1 comp and were making 750hp x 695tq. thats with a stock holley 1050 and rejetted down quite a bit.

I forgot about the smaller 750 Dominator Automotive carbs. Didn't know they ever made an 850 4500 carb. The only actual Holley Marine carb listed is a 1050.

Dyno results are fabricated. All engines have HP and Torque cross at 5252 R.P.M. First find out why this is off.
