Focals..........they sound absolutly amazing!!

The more round the speaker, the better the sound. You want 6.5s or 7.7s.

Griff, I know that DC Gold is the old Babb and they have a good reputation but the grills are a little dated in styling. I don't want to go with billet grills, any other aftermarket grills available that would fit? So far the Polk MM's seem to be my best choice, any others worth looking at? Thanks, Steve
I really don't mind the look in my boat, but my cockpit is almost all white. They are kind of like having that sleeper car that blows everything else away. I definately see your point about the look in a brand new boat. I really don't know any other direction to steer you on a great sounding 6x9. |
I say go with the Polk audio's also. I have 8 of them on my boat and it rocks!!! They are great speakers for the price. They have clear highs and deep base. I'm really happy with mine. Good luck!!

I have Polks at home, boat and truck. Excellent speakers with excellent warranty. I decided on components in the boat with a 12" sub.

Steve,
I am running (4) Polk 6.5" MM components in the cockpit with a portable Alumapro 12" ported sub. I like the idea of a portable sub so that I can move it around. I disconnected the cabin speakers for now otherwise they would have been way over-powered. I have a JL audio 500/1 powering the sub and (2) 500W Polk amps powering the speakers. I wanted the speaker amps to run cooler since they are located in the cabin (1 amp -2 speakers) so I bridged them (plus I found a good deal on the amps). Had an issue with the original Clarion head unit and replaced that with a new Kenwood with Ipod capability. She cranks if you want it to ;) :) Lots of wiring, big fuses etc. but all well worth it. |
How are the Polk Amps ? I am about to purchase a JL , but only because i have heard so much good about the speakers , and the fact that they have a 6 channel that is pretty reasonable?
