The Chief was never properly dialed in
It needs spacers in the drives and alot of prop testing
but going just under 100 is respectable and i have run the boat in 6 foot seas on lake michigan at near 90 MPH and it runs leval and true and just crushes the waves
The reverse Chine works real well in the turns at a high speed

I looked at thsoe molds when the whole thing folded. Poor guy never saw it coming. I coulda bought those molds for close to $50k. I can only imagine what he spent to build them. I don't remember the guy's name that let me in to check the stuff out but what stories he could tell! It was fugly.

There are ONLY a select few who know the "real" story of how it started, where it was going and what happened in the end. There were a lot of hurt feelings and many perceived rumors, but the bottom line is, the boat that could have been, never will be...and those who may claim to know what happened, if they were not on the payroll, they only know what someone who wasn't there told them - and that is fact.
(I was on the payroll )

Steve has done a wonderful thread on(Iwon't say it) the other site about the building of the tooling for that boat, it really is a great story and he seems to know what he is doing.

I thought the claimed top speeds were low for a twin step. The rough water ride looks rough on the crew with a lot of wet running surface. Not the most nimble performer.

We were not even pushing hard that day
Matter of fact we kept circling around the slow boats to check on them Forward a few miles then circle back and forward another few miles
was a great day for running the boat
this was the same day Was no better running for the Sabers (Another Apache style hull)

he is running lighter and in much calmer seas then the day we were runnning on lake michigan
Big Ocean water is not as tough to run in as Big Lake Michigan water in my opinion
