Just wanted to post a few pics we took this weekend. We didn't get many as there were so many other cameras around.

These first ones are of when Bob and Jay first landed at Saba Rock-basically at this end of the long trip and before the Poker Run. It was raining and had just let up from a torrential downpour they had just gone through-you can see it in the background on a couple pics. They were absolutely soaking wet from the rain. The last couple shots Jay isn't in because I think he is already at the bar ordering a Painkiller!

These are of the Poker Run. Truly good times never to be forgotten. Days like these are why we go through all the difficult times associated with owning boats like these. Worth all the sweat, frustration, and every single penny.

Link to Poker Run Video

Here is a link to the short version of the video shot from the helicopter by Rick. Like I mentioned in an earlier post you will see plenty of unsafe moments but that is just the way it is there. Enjoy the video. The boating and the scenery is just so beautiful. Can't wait to get back.

Awesome video Bob. Great to see your old boat running strong! Did you ask to drive it just for old times sake!?

Actually not. I was afraid I would blow up another motor or drive !! LOL It did seem strange tho seeing it so far away from home. i am happy with the diesel set up. I could not have undertaken the trip with the previous boat. Only a 200 mile range and high test fuel.

Great pictures, David! Those of the two boats, at our rest stop, look awesome. Thanks!

Julian. I have some great Go Pro video of your Apache running beside us. It may be a few days or more before I can either post or get it to you as I am in catch up mode still since getting home. Hope all is well with you and your dad. I will be in touch.

David

I agree with David 100%. Days like that Poker Run, last Sunday, can make all the time and money invested in keeping a performance boat running, worthwhile. I hope I get to enjoy many more days like that one.

Regards,
Julian

Sure, Bob, no problem!

Thanks!

Back in the Islands

Well I am now back in the BVI for the next week. Flew in from Toronto today and there were David and Chrissann waiting with their boat to take me to Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor to pick up Team PREDATOR. We had hopes of going out to St Marten for the weekend but is unlikely with the brisk winds. As David says, we have only scratched the surface here in BVI and will be quite content to stay here in the Islands, do some diving and explore. Some new friends we made here during the poker run hope to come out from St Thomas and join us for a few days. It will be great for us to get together again. I have arranged to have Team PREDATOR shipped back to FL from St Thomas, USVI after I finish up mid next week. Time will not allow me to run back on her bottom as summer has arrived up north and I need to get on with the program up there. I will post from time to time and share some things that may be of interest over the next several days.

I will post some pics of an awesome sunset tonight as we rode up to Saba Rock Resort. While my pics do not come close to Jay's, I hope I can present a few good shots.

I could have used this week to run the boat back but thought since I am here and there is so much to see and do the time would be better spent in the Islands and then ship it. Some of my new St Thomas friends helped with the arrangements so will get to spend a say or two over there as well before flying home.
Look me up when you come to Marco next winter. If I'm not there ....... I could be here !! :)

The Last Resort

When David and Chrissann picked me up at the airport in the "Rusty Zipper" they docked at The Last Resort. I commented on the metal art and David said that whenever there is a full moon the art work gets loaded up with firewood and it's quite a show. Worked great until they set the building on fire once. LOL :)

how do you get it shipped? Someone is driving it? loading it on a trailer then on a bigger ship going back in FL?

Bob

Will do when I get over to Marco

How does the cost compare to running her back on her bottom Vs shipping to Fla
Need to make a shipping cradle?

Thank you
Jim

My trailer was put on a ship Monday at FLL and will arrive in St Thomas on the 22nd. I will run PREDATOR over to St Thomas on the 22nd or 23rd and load boat onto the trailer instead of having a cradle built. Cost to ship the trailer down was only $1,000.00 instead of $3,000.00 to have a cradle built. They will then place on a ship going to Ft Lauderdale for about $5,000.00. That is a bit less than the cost of fuel for the trip back. Saves some wear and tear on the boat as well as myself and frees up my time.

I think about 1,400 miles due to a bit of zig zag to get to some of the stops we wanted. I am curious as well so I am going to plot the route on my chart plotter to know for sure. Will let you know, Rob.

Hello Bob

Not all that bad considering the possible issues that could arise on the way back to FLL on her bottom
Good thinking about the trailer. wasn't sure how much a cradle would cost?

Thank you

Enjoy your Stay in BVI.

Google Earth shows 1108 miles, straight-line distance from St Thomas to Ft Lauderdale.

Of course, we all know ain't no such thing as a straight line on a trip like that. :drink:

Small world. The white 28 Cigarette pictured earlier belonged to a friend of mine for years and was kept on Georgian Bay most of it's life. I used to drive it out 12 Mile Bay as a kid (35 years ago) on the way to his cottage. Thanks Jay for the photos, they bring back some good memories.

A couple quick pics for now. The first is self explanatory. The second Bob took as he and I were admiring the beautiful scenery while having cocktails at a neighboring watering hole.

Snorkeling Saba Reef

While David had to stay close to the Resort this morning Chrissann took me on a snorkeling tour all around Saba Rock. It was unbelievable to see the color and life on the reef. I took some great video with my Go Pro and she took pics with her underwater camera. All of the pics are hers and some were taken on previous dives. I will add pics as I have time.

While Jay may take the best pics above water I think you will agree Chrissann takes the best underwater. Awesome.
It will take me some time to be able to edit and post the Go Pro video. I did capture a turtle, lots of fish and interesting corals.

Thanks, Frank. This is such an awesome place. So glad Jay and I made the trip. David and Chrissann are wonderful hosts and I am somehow going to have to find a way to repay them. Saba Rock, rocks.

No, they were on the reef but not today. Chrissann took that pic previously but I was so impressed with some of her pics I wanted to post. It is very windy here today and water was stirred up just a bit.

STUCK 06-18-2010 06:18 PM

Please post more and I'll have to show my son he has a thing for turtles and anything that's in the water which to me is a good thing. Does she have a web site where you can see her pictures? Forget the phrase I want to be like Mike it should be I want to be like Bob. I meet you for a split second on the Fort Myers run this spring I was invited by Andy to ride with him. Keep up the adventures and picture and keep sharing with us.

Coupla You Tube video's

Here is a Go Pro video of the Leverick Bay, BVI Poker Run we did. The camera I had mounted on the bow had a smudge on it and is not worth posting.

Also a video of the Exumas as we passed thru there on the way down here.

I will see if I can figure how to embed.
