Thanks everyone for the kind coments. I will touch on later what inspired me to do a trip like this.

The boat still has steering issues and the cause appears to be external. David has arranged for me to meet his mechanic who he speaks very highly of, first thing this morning over on Virgin Gorda. We will be in the lift again today for a while. I will go have some breakfast now and take care of that and check back in later.
Thanks for following along. Weather looks a little better today. :)

For a man of few words...We can call it Jay and Silent Bobs new adventure :)...smooth trailing seas guys

VtSteve 05-28-2010 06:42 AM

Amazing combo Bob and Jay. Thanks for a compelling novel. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had their minds drifting during this thread and thought, "wouldn't that kind of trip be a great memoir to have". Greatly appreciate you guys sharing it.

He , he. Not sure I'm coming home ! LOL I have made arrangements to haul the boat out on Monday before flying home and leave it here for a while. It would be a shame to rush off when there is so much to do and see here. I will come back in 2 weeks for more of this before starting the return trip later in June.

Just back from getting repairs in Spanish Town. We lifted the boat and found a cracked fitting on a hose to the steering ram on port side. While the mechanic changed that out I had the hull and hardware all acid washed and gave the engines a good fresh water flush. We are now good mechanically. Now I can start to have some fun. :)

Just talked to Julian and there are about 15 boats from PR at St Thomas having lunch. More to come but some are scattered. Shortly Jay and I will run west to meet them and get some running shots of the boats on the way back here.

Ms PatriYacht 05-28-2010 12:35 PM

Bob, i am checking airfares to BVI, please don't tell Ian since I am just getting a ticket for myself ;)

That was so cool you met up with Julian and his Dad, I bet it is not often he meets another OSO that has boated over from the states, same thing with David, that place looks first rate, awesome view from the bar, I am going to goggle it, it's been a long time since we have been out of the states on vacation. Can you leave Predator down there all winter:drink:

Jay as always awesome photos, Bob, yours are not too shabby either. To bad we did not think of this before, you should have contacted the travel channel who knows they might have been intrested in having you shot some video for them, what you are doing is way cooler than a lot of their shows.

David was that a mojito I saw on the table:drink: Can't wait to see the photo's from the poker run, however if you still have steering problems, don't get to close to Julian's Apache:)

My daughter Chrissy was looking thru the thread last night with a focus on the pictures. She commented to her husband Lee that "Wow, since when did my dad start taking such great pictures ? " Lee laughed and responded that "the good ones were Jay's, not mine ! " LOL
True. Glad Jay is capturing the look and feel of our little adventure.

Pic comments

In the last group of Jay's pics ( Post # 253 ) the first pic is my previous Nor Tech that now resides in Fajardo, PR. We ran east this afternoon to meet some of the boats arriving from PR.

The second pic is OSO JCG ( Julian Jr ) who had his dad along. Those following will recall we had dinner with them back in Ponce, PR. after them assisting us.

I don't know anything about the other pics. LOL

It's funny you say that, Donna as I was telling them at our table tonight that I feel a bit guilty being down here when our summers are so short and am actually quite anxious to once again get back on the lakes up north. On June 25th PBCC has an overnite run up to Kilarney at the top end of Georgian Bay and am committed to do that.

Good morning all. I see Jay was up much earlier this morning. LOL
Shortly David will launch his Tiger and he and Chrissann are going to lead us around and show us some cool spots here in the islands. I expect Jay will get some great photo opportunities as we go thru our day. Also need to stop by Liverick Bay and meet Nick and get registered for the poker run tomorrow. Would also like to get the DUX boat out and rip around the bay here as well as get a bit of snorkeling in. Lots to do so guess I better get on my horse. :)
