Sunsation has ran the 700's for some time now in the factory F4 and they love them. Reliable and low maintenance are a huge turn on for that size horsepower IMO. I am sure if you were to call the factory and speak to Joe or Wayne they would be more than happy to give you all the details. I know they are busy building but they will always take a time out to speak motors.
|
I put a little over 100 hours and the Wayne who bought my boat i believe put more than 40 hours on her.. not a problem to date.. I loved them.. great set up and would do them again......and Tracy for your set up a semi-stagged set up is best..2-3mph faster vs side by sides..

We built several F-4’s with the 700’s and NXT drives, very nice packages and had no problems with any of them, and they all ran at least 100mph. The black and green factory boat has 230 hours with only a couple small issues, but never stopped us from running, pretty good looking motors too.

I know a guy who owns a 43NT. He originally built the boat with triple Ilmores and bravos. The boat went back to NT and was converted to a triple 700 and NXT boat. The boat runs around 111mph. Outerlimits has built a 46 with triple 700's that ran 120mph. My buddy has a set that he runs the sh*t out of in a 42X Cigarette. He's had a few issues but most of the hours are at 5000+rpm!:D The motors have held up really well. I wouldnt hesitate to buy a pair!

There is a 50 Hustler with trip 700s.

Yes triple 700 51's have been built and they run 108-110. LCM doesnt have one. It is owned by someone overseas I believe.
Blue.. http://www.lakecumberlandmarine.com/...71ef98181a1879 Red http://www.lakecumberlandmarine.com/...9b04ace98b341c What I never understood was/is that at the time these showed up, there were several used 51's on the market. Plus with a triple 51' custom boat, custom would be the key word. Somebody (definitly not me) in that market would order exactly what they wanted, how they wanted it. Not an off the shelf version. Especially when there were several low hour used deals to be had for less, if someone wanted it 'right now' and not personalized.... I cant help but think someone took a bath on the blue one, it may be new, but its been sitting a long time, long enough that 52 has basically replaced the model. But then again I do tend to think too much. |

I have to say that I do not have any experience with 700NXT's, but I am very impressed with everything Ilmor sent me for my 725/Indy installation. I would at least give them a call and talk to some of their customers.

Great engine and drive combo. Really stout and robust.
However all the stock units dyno'd on third party dynos have made markedly less than 700 HP. (dont take it up with me, but take it up with Dustin Whipple who DOES know more about the merc 700 than almost anyone) Mechanically, stock, they are good for many hours of life - but they seem to blow engine electronic components pretty quickly. Most notably the following components PCM /IAC driver, fuel pump never on, or always on, coil driver failure, boost control valve failure...... They can be made to run much more HP with aftermarket kits they can really sing- but out of the box it is what it is. The problem are known and adressed, but inconvenient for sure, overall its A superb package. Uncle Dave |

700's
I have 700's in a 382. It would seem to me that you would be back to the same issue with the center drive. I don't see how it would surface. Mine runs really good when the props vent over 80. The center drive will always be buried. I would think as with bravos that it would actually slow the boat with the drag. ??

Does anyone know if the 6 lower changes with the nxt lower? I realise you would have to install water pick ups if you changed. Side x side Nxts are difficult to dial in as far as handling goes.
