Howdy,
My brother bought my 87 211 Liberator new in Las Vegas. He said they gave him a choice of the Merc 454 (330 crank hp) and the OMC 460 (340 crank hp) and he selected the 460 because it was "more" hp  yeah right! He ran it from 1987-2004 when I bought it. Although it would do about 60 mph once it finally got up on a plane with the 460 King Kobra, it was a real DOG out of the hole even when it was new. I pulled the OMC junk out and put a 1997 454/Bravo III in and have been running it ever since. The difference is nothing less than spectacular and although it's about 3 mph less.......it comes out of the hole like a ROCKET. I have a 87 211 liberator. It has a 454 with bravo 1 Regards, Rick |
1986 211 came with a 260 or 300 hp mercruiser package. I know the 260 package was a 350. Not sure what the 300hp package was but I would have to assume it was a big block.

I remember one like that with a small block and was called something like, 2+2.

In those days they would have rated the engine/drive using crankshaft HP.
The OMC 460 was rated at 340hp and the 454, 330hp. My 97 454/Bravo III is rated at 300 Propshaft HP. |
