Default Hit and run in MD this weekend

The news showed a pic of a 22 classic. I'm guessing the driver will be caught if he doesn't turn himself in.

Pretty wide open water right there, unless he was real close to the sailboat it would be very hard to see a head bobbing in the water. Hope he recovers well.

Wow,

A passenger on Gentile's sailboat called 911 for assistance. When NRP and Coast Guard units arrived on the scene, Gentile slipped below the surface of the water. A NRP officer and a member of the Coast Guard jumped into the water to bring Gentile back to the surface. Gentile was put onboard the Coast Guard vessel, where members of the Anne Arundel County EMS provided aid. Gentile was transported the Annapolis Coast Guard station where he was airlifted by Maryland State Police helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for injuries.

Why do they say it was a donzi......It was most likely a baja or a wellcraft.

you would think the driver of the boat would have felt something if he hit him??

The Bay was 1-3's on Saturday, in a 22 foot boat you would be doing a lot of bouncing around anyway, and the guy dove down so it is likely the motor hit him, I could see completely not seeing him and not noticing the thump on the boat if you were over 25-30 mph.

I drove right threw this area heading to Annapolis on Saturday around 1:30PM in my 400SS, it was bumpy in the bay... there was another incident with several Whalers and USCG at the mouth of the Severn when I 3as coming into the River...

I was thinking the same thing.....under the conditions listed it is certainly possible the driver was watching th sailboat and didn't see a head bobbing (or hear what was likely a minor bump when he hit the guys legs).
