Bbc # 7 Cyl Loss

How many have lost # 7 cyl as compaired to the other 7 in BBC

I haven't lost #7, but it is a common cyl to get pounded especially if special attention isn't given to #5 and #7 plug wire spacing. They fire so closely in the firing order if 5 jumps to 7 it will result in severly overl advanced combustion in #7 and bad things will happen.

Which time? The one that goes most for me is #7, then 5. Except for last year I had # 2 & #6 detonate apart. Wish I knew why? Never had a problem with the even side before in all my years. The problem with #7 is it fires right after #5 in firing order & has not had time to disapate heat so it detonates.

(OK I fixed my post, this is what I get for trying to work while I read/post on OSO)

I think turbo jack means because 7 fires after 5. I wasn't aware of this problem, but it makes sense and I will check it out. I've heard ole number 7 having rod bearing problems due to not warming engine thoroughly before getting on it though.

Anyone know of anything like this that could make #2 have a carbon buildup problem?

BT

I do not see why 7 would have rod problems except for being caused by detonation. Of all the pistons I have gone thru over all of the years I have never had a rod/bearing problems.

Do you guys bet on #7 when you go to Vega$?:D
