Pete Bethune was in the Ady Gil when the f'n Japs ran over it. I can't believe he put himself and his crew in such danger. :mad: He had no weapons on board, what was he thinking???

as much as i admire the cause, they ran in to the Japanese boat, watch the thrust from the sponsons.

I can't even watch this show. I completely agree that this is a worthwhile cause. I have LOTS of issues with the way these people go about it. They are a bit wacko. Which is probably an understatement, but you get the idea. :D

You guys are missing the point.

They want donations and will do any crazy azz, aluminum chewing, steel beenie wearing in a thunderstorm stunt to get them.

But the way these tools go about it I'm really surprised the Jap's haven't sunk more of their boats yet... When they do there won't be the outcry for these environmental wacko martyr's that they are looking for...

That's the one I saw. Upon a second viewing it looks pretty definitive; the Jap ship changed course to intercept the Ady Gil. If it was observing International rules it would have continued its starboard turn and missed the Gil, as the Gil was the stand-on vessel. But they made ANOTHER course correction to port in order to intercept the Gil.

Watch the video put up by 502ss. What do you think of that??

Ya know in the real world it really doesn't matter whether or not the Jap boat turned into the Ady Gill or not.

They could claim that these eco-terrorists were trying to harm there vessel which seems to be the plan by the anti-whalers on every episode that I've watched and were justifiable in their actions...

Either way you don't play chicken with a train when your in a Yugo or things like this are bound to happen....

I noticed the high powered laser they were attempting to shine into the eyes of the japanese crew, you know if you shine a low power laser at a plane at 15,000 feet you go to feceral prison right.................

I see two boat captains that believe in what they are doing to the point of stupidity, neither was going to back down, the smaller craft lost, even thought the whaling ship turned, the ady gil went forward... I still stand by my statement... :)

Yeah, just a word or warning to the idiot driving the plastic boat, reverse would have been the correct gear to move away from the ship. I have no idea whether the Jap ship would have hit the boat or not if he just stayed still, but it appears he was attempting full forward to try and turn away. Bad move since it took him right under the ship. Plus if you are in a light, fast, maneuverable craft and surrounded by huge lumbering iron ships, you do not sit still for anything, period. Ask the penguin.....

Sea Shepard needs a diesel electric sub with some torpedos, problem solved.

I've stumbled onto this show several times. Two things turn my stomach. First, there's the killing of the whales. Then there's the complete lack of even basic seamanship skills by the Sea Shepards. I've used this phrase many times for many different situations and I'll use it again here: "They didn't get what they deserved, but they got exactly what they asked for."
