HJ...i have no issue with navigation with a compass and charts. i spend a lot of time in the mountains climbing in remote areas of the world. i have no problems charting and plotting when out at sea on large yachts as well. the ride was rough and a lot of equipment in the boat took some serious hits. jeff black and blue on one side of his body. 51 min in 130+ degree cockpit i would never want to repeat.
no skill at 200mph? wow...there is way more to it than most would think! both for the driver and throttleman. at 160 air comes in the front of a boat and leaves the back...over that air is trying to escape anywhere is can and out the sides! 190 the boat starts do some unusual things that if you have been there you wouldn't know how to react to. at 200 mph, its one football field every second and you better know what you are doing for sure! |

it's kind of hard to race when the bottom keeps coming off the boat! Glad to see that did not happen at 200 MPH i would imagin it would make the boat pull to one side would it not ? |

WOW! never looked at it that way. |
I think it's silly and stupid to nitpick Joe S. because you don't like the way offshore racing is run these days. Boat racing has always been a rich man's sport all the way back to the days of Gar Wood. Guys who did it mostly for fun and bragging rights. The problem is, today, we don't have enough rich men in the sport. Who, out there among the complainers, is willing to organize a race way offshore with a big enough purse and sponsers to pay a working class guy to race a 40 Skater? I commend Joe and Jeff for their efforts and hope to see them running soon.

SK...yaaawwn....destroying the sport of offshore racing?? why don't you tell that to OPA, SBI, PROPRA and poker run/ festivals and others who beg for JBS to show up for races and appearances to...... and listen closely now.... to bring fans in, locals in, money in for concessions, money in for the community, media exposure and enjoyment for families and friends. they certainly are not the only ones people are coming out to see and all the other teams benefit from increased foot-traffic and media exposure of these events.
JBS, Jeff and Joey have been racing for years, they have a loyal following and some that always want to complain, but their determination to race and win is second to none.... they have had their share of setbacks but have not hung up their helmets yet... offshore racing, hmmm....seems to me they were just in Bimini and under increasingly brutal conditions seemed to smoke everyone else after starting last....don't worry they don't need your accolades, they run for pride and self accomplishment... oh and by the way, Joey did not repair the bottom of the Mystic after the Bimini run, it was "repaired" by Mystic and Cosker and after less that an hour of running sub 190 mph in a poker run and at St. Clair failed again in the same location. try and get a few facts straight next time....seems like a few of you guys just don't like someone else getting more of the attention.... I will give Joey credit for coming on here and engaging in what must be painful dialogue despite his seemingly uncanny ability to overstate and obfuscate. I would also point out that the reason all of this "criticism" has been created in the first place is simply the fact that JBS has seen fit to air all of their team's inside information and foibles.......... believing that by telling the world how various individuals repeatedly made suckers out of them, somehow makes them heros. As far as the various race org's "begging" them to show up..... don't look now but these groups beg everyone to show up...It's a very lean period in boat racing and the next step down after one boat in a class....is no boats in a class. Offshore racing is sad mockery of what it once was....... True it still has its die hard fan(s) (fans?)....and its even more die hard entrants....but as I have said too many times, enthusiasm, youth, fake boobs, booze, showing off, broken promises, throwing good money after bad, extravagance, and ignorance are not the recipe for racing success |

Mauff, Qatar, Geico, JBS, Teague, Aquamania, Stihl, Peppers, JD Byrider, Prop stop, Dave Scott, etc.......... Put them all in ONE CLASS dammit!!!!! Then you'd actually have something worth talking about. |

1. Render obscure, unclear, or unintelligible. 2. Bewilder (someone). have to admit I had to look that one up! |
