Default Boat Clubs or Boat Groups that Give Back? Do Charitable Things?

I'm working on a story for a National Boating Magazine and one question is what other groups do things similar to our Shore Dreams For Kids? www.shoredreamsforkids.org

I know there are several out there but I'm drawing a blank...

I know...
Ft. Myers Offshore does charitable stuff
Platinum Powerboat Club - raises money for Make A Wish & provides boat rides
OSS Cares - does things with special needs children
Smoke on the Water - used to work with Make A Wish

What other clubs or groups are out there that I cannot remember? Please post so I can try and include them in the story.

Thanks!!

searched some threads and found this:

Desert Storm also raised $7500.00 for Soldiers Angels ($1000.00 by the Performance Boats Mag after the Street Party gathering on Thursday night) and $5000.00 for Havasu For Youth. For a grand total of $29,500.00!!!

The RPBA has put on Jammin on the James with all proceeds going to the Shriners and used for kids that can't afford hospital care. $15K-18K each year for a number of years now. With all the news of runs being downsized or cancelled, this run increased it's boat limit to 120 and still sold out nearly a month early. (Event held 3 weeks ago)

The Hampton Roads area now puts on the ACS poker run coming up in 2 weeks. Operated by a bunch of volunteers that work with the American Cancer Society who put on the run themselves. I believe I read they raised $15K last year but not certain as I'm a participant not a volunteer.

SCOPE's annual poker run provides a charitible donation of $25,000-30,000 from the proceeds each year. I'll get you some more info (links) later tonight.

The Rochester Offshore Powerboat Association (ROPA) has done charitable work for almost 20 years. Check with WHIPLASH - our president for details.

Two good organizations come to mind.

The Performance Boat Club Of Canada

This club doesnt boat without charity involved.
Consistently 40-50k per year raised.

NewYork State Powerboat Inc.

6 years running have supported Make A Wish through their run on Lake Oneida.
Very active volunteer group.

Kudos to all the clubs that give back.

The Chesapeake Bay Powerboat Association supports several charities each year. We support the Great Chesapeake Bay swim as the patrol boat fleet. That event has raised in excess of 1 million dollars for the March of Dimes and several other charities. We also hold the original Leukemia/Lymphoma Society Poker Run each June, having raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Society's local chapter and helping other chapters set up their own in other parts of the country. And the past 2 years we have raised over $10,000 each year for Special Olympics by having a team for the Polar Bear Plunge held each year in January, literally freezing our azzes off
