I think I've got the original brochure with this boat in it. I will see if i can dig it out and scan it.

George designed it, we (Conquest) built the plug. Some changes were made to that plug after delivery at Checkmate and the result did not perform as well as it should have. A lot of finger pointing ended with an arbitration hearing in NYC a few years later, and the parties reached a settlement. The model was discontinued almost at inception and there are a couple still around (1 at K&K Outboard on Long Island).

I am sorry the project ever happened..........

Interesting. What year did the "settlement" take place?

Before I mis-write anything here, help me out here.
Did Baja ever have an ill fated attempt at producing a cat?

Back in the late 60's both Checkmate and Baja produced single engine outboard racing tunnel boats....both based on the Glastron/Molinari. At that time the largest boat that either company made was perhaps 18 or 19 feet in their pleasure boat line. To my knowledge Checkmates only other attempt at building a cat was the one listed earlier in this thread. I believe Baja put it's "brand" name on a few of the racing 32 foot Active Cats built in Michigan in the early 80's, but Baja did not actually build those boats.

I had a 1985 12' Baja Scat cat growing up. Terrible boat.
