Default NXT Transmissions

Anyone had any issues with Mercury's NXT transmissions?

No issues for me at all although I believe the early Fountains had some issues; changed the lowers to 6's to address the stern lift? Shogren can tell you.

You can also do a search of this forum as this has been a topic in the past.

130 hrs. No problems with mine. My motors are stock 700's though.

Scott Porter from Formula told me they had some issues in the 382/700's a couple years ago! Don't know details!

I have one that is clunking a little when going into reverse onthe port side. I change all fluids every 25 hours, and both sides look the same. The problem is recent and intermitent. I'm hoping it is some sort of adjustment. I have heard that this tranny is 6-7K. I was going to put up a thread but maybe someone can help me out here.

I have one that needs the fluid changed quicker than the other and seems to catch slighting when shifting from in gear to neutral. Wondering if anyone has had issues with slipping, cooling, etc. Stock 700s as well and will stay that way. Thanks for comments.

Curious...what brand boats?

I do know that when shifting you should pause in neutral...seems to work better. The shift cables are stiff and can be tough to shift when cold.
