Default Guinness World Record for the Largest Boat Tie-up

Lake Cumberland, KY – On Saturday, August 14th, thousands of boats will gather for a lake-wide event hosted by the Lake Cumberland Association (LCA) in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Boat Tie-up and make boating history. LCA aims to gather over 2,000 boats for the ‘Raft Up’ in an effort to break the current record of 1,454 boats.

Sounds like fun!

2 local boaters with the help of a handful of volunteers went after the recorded on Lake St Clair a while back and due to some "paper" errors were denied.

A few years later the site master at www.themoot.net put together a group of people (me being one) to claim the World Record, seeing as this is a normal every weekend thing how difficult could it be.. Right?

Well we had well over 2000 registered boats one year and the Guinness people refused to count over 1/2 of them for stupid reasons (wet paper, wrote in pencil .. stuff like that)

The line was hooked at the end and with a hi-def aerial picture we counted 2078 boats if my memory serves me.. So at this time Lake St Clair holds the unofficial record for the most boats rafted off one another.
