Fastest "Pleasure" V-Bottom?

We know that Bill and Gino have a little competition going as far as the cats but who has the fastest pleasure V?

Ran-Dom 32 08-18-2010 10:13 AM

:food-smiley-007: Fountain

fastdonzi 08-18-2010 10:14 AM

I think Outerlimits would be "Catagorized" as a pleasure boat, whereas Reggie used all out race boats.

GTOFFSHORE 08-18-2010 10:21 AM

How big are we talking? It's very relative. The Skater V bottom is crazy fast. Fountain's are fast over 35ft but the smaller ones are not. So I think you have to break it down to size.

phragle 08-18-2010 10:23 AM

My concept of a pleasure vee has a cabin of some some sort.... otherwise what really seperates a race vee from a pleasure vee??

Bullhead 08-18-2010 10:40 AM

I think if it was not a purpose built race v-bottom it would be considered pleasure....there are some huge powered OL's, Cigs, Skaters, Fountains,etc.....just wondering who, specific boat not brand, is at the top of the food chain?

Our SL 44 Has been 144 on pump gas, Full Cabin, A/C & Generator. 144 on the limiters, a little more gear & 150 is not out of the question. I'd say that is a pretty fast Pleasure Boat

animalhouse 08-18-2010 10:53 AM

And if thats not good enough, there are 2 of them

That is a sweet boat.

I wonder, how many people with the money to buy that boat ever stay in the cabin over night or uses the gen? I would think the hotel would be the place I would sleep.

Just asking,

Here is the second. Identical set up, just no generator or a/c

animalhouse 08-18-2010 11:03 AM

Stayed twice so far, a/c blowing ice cubes, stereo rocking. good time

n20michael 08-18-2010 11:04 AM

I think the "Statement" V Hull has also ran "140 ish"

Michael

animalhouse 08-18-2010 11:19 AM

137 for the statement. The 44 OL has been 144, on pump gas hard on the rev limiters. I know it will run 150 based on the props that were on it, the gear ratio we were running, & the fact that the limiters are set very conservitively. not to mention that we could put some boost to it and run good fuel, but that would take away from the fun part. We have over 60 hours on the blue boat of just plain pleasure boating. no need to go any faster.......for now.

That boat is BA!!!! Very nice!!!!!!

Catmando 08-18-2010 11:26 AM

Haggin's turbine 51OL has run 135 iirc.

1MOSES1 08-18-2010 11:28 AM

animalhouse,

i saw your boat (blue one) tied up at the transient dock in bristol. right near quitos. i must have taken 30 pictures of it. sweet boat. how often do you run it in the bay?

i have a house on prudence island, we run our fastech ocassionally out that way.

animalhouse 08-18-2010 11:32 AM

we run it in the bay every weekend. i use the transient dock when i take it to work. (beats driving) we keep it in East Greenwich during the weekends and in the garage at the OL factory during the week. Getting ready to send it to FL in time for Biketober Fest

So why not bring it to the Shootout and see what you can do in a mile? The fastest pleasure V last year was a "42" Fountain w/turned up 700's at 114mph. The Statement was there but didn't compete.

animalhouse 08-18-2010 11:43 AM

Maybe, still working on some scheduling conflicts with a race in europe, but haven't ruled it out yet.

animlahouse,

do you happen to know any of the guys who run from bristol to the new abbey hotel/condo area...near the country club and wind mill.

What power where you running for that 144? Just curious, I think the Statement boat was running stock 1075's, pump gas also, I assume

Yes Statements V bottom has 1075's in it, and runs 138mph. The blue one that they had at the Miami Show has 1200's in it and runs 145mph.

Great looking boat, what power does it have?

animalhouse 08-18-2010 01:00 PM

the boat has OL Powertrain 1375's. 144 is ultra conservitave, 8 lbs of boost and rev limiter at 5900. the boat is set up very tame. we were so impressed with the numbers at those conservitave settings, we haven't felt the need to let them loose at 6500 and some boost. how much faster do you really need to go in a stand up full cabin pleasure boat.

we use this boat every weekend, and enjoy running 100 at 4100 rpm, so maybe when we decide to upgrade the trannies we will let her loose and see what she will do, but at 1450 lbs of torque, we are riding on the sharp edge of the knife on the trannies. so until then we are happy limping around at 144

that is us. the primary use of this boat is to carry golf clubs across the bay to go golfing at carnegie abbey. 45 minutes by car, 8 by boat

How are the O/L factory motors working out. Are they a solid roller set up or hydraulic roller. Is the same engine builder that built the for Sunny Days inhouse now at O/L. What is the handling like in the boat at 140.

the sv 43 with stock 1075's will run 142.

precisiondetails 08-18-2010 01:07 PM

I know a stock 42 Fountain runs 138 with out that light carbon million plus doller layup that OL uses. I bet apples to apples its Fountain hands down. If the beak spankls them that bad on the race course, if you build a million dollar 42 up against an OL every single day of the week the beak will be faster guarenteed!!!

SkiDoc 08-18-2010 02:11 PM

Eddie Young is going to run Bruce Gibsons Skater at the Shootout. May see the fourties with it.

omerta one 08-18-2010 02:52 PM

I heard this turbine V may be there!

Love the black motors in that OL!

JasonSmith 08-18-2010 08:27 PM

A good V-bottom shootout is needed. There are always fast cats, but some stupid fast v bottom action would be really cool to see!

Bullhead 08-18-2010 09:53 PM

gotta put one in for the Fountains.....Doc Janssen's 42PR ran 142 w/ 1075s....... there is a 42 in PA somewhere with 1350 sterlings that ran 150.....it was used as a pace boat when they used to have races at the Fountain plant....I'll see if I can dig up a pic
