Cri331,

I would decide how you want to drive and at what speed you think you will be comfortable. If you are only going to be happy going to run as fast as your boat can go, look at race boats and rig accordingly. That would mean 2.5's (1/2 hour breakin), mechanical brackets such as Cooke, i like low water pickups, and everything as light as it can be. Run 500 RPM's off of WOT on race ECU's and the engines will last seasons. We have raced against at least one 28 that did an honest 120 mph. Many run in the high teens as Ryan says. Remember at that speed the boat is going to be very loose. Be safe running that fast. Always assume the worst, but i know of no handling problems. When you get past 2 footers (sometimes 1.5's) , you are slowing down and throttling...that's the way it goes...no big thing.

If you are leaning more toward pleasure, the 300's are fine. The extra weight makes rigging more of a challange.

Wayne,

Not to be picking any fights...but you are a bit mistaken. Charlie has no mod's done to his motors. They are stock my friend. I am sure Nick's boat is fast but if I recall correctly Nick didn't have anything for Charlie. Again, I am not in any way trying to be adversarial. Just want to get the facts straight. Hope to meet you at Skaterfest.
