I let my boys out at 3 am before I went to be. You know how sometimes you see something in the dark and you can't figure out what it is for a second and you geth that erie feeling that something isn't right. When my eyes focused I was sick to see my nehibors new 55 Ocean had just sank. It was fine at 10:00. We had a little bit of rain but nothing to do this. As I was watching it went from the entire roof was still out of the water then it kept going unti the radar was under.
It was so reie listening to the cleats pull out and things crack and pop.

I drove around the block and knocked on the door but there was no answer. I tried taking pics but it was too dark.
This is what it looks like now.
Very sad!! It was a beautiul boat!

The owner still dosen't know as they must be away!!

bustedbrick 09-06-2010 09:01 AM

That's heartbreaking.... and probably something so simple like a thru-hull fitting or hose.

AugiePensa 09-06-2010 09:04 AM

Hey Gino, my guts are twisted looking at your photos. Makes me want to cry for your friend.

BobbyB 09-06-2010 09:11 AM

Damm that sucks. I feel sorry for them.

ImaPoser 09-06-2010 09:12 AM

Wow that sucks. Puts my little boating issues in to perspective.

dykstra 09-06-2010 09:15 AM

Omg:eek: That is an awful sight!!

Semper Fi 09-06-2010 09:17 AM

that sucks

lowblue320 09-06-2010 09:17 AM

Very heartbreaking indeed.

Jupiter Sunsation 09-06-2010 09:36 AM

Wow it is even "bad luck" being Gino's neighbor!

Anyone want to guess if the insurance companies will soon stop writing policies too close to Gino's home or business? :D

Atleast this time Gino you can take some satisfaction that it is n't your problem this time!

This boat will be for sale at Liquidatiors next month with no mention of submarine duty.......

Perlmudder 09-06-2010 10:30 AM

eeee

LaughingCat 09-06-2010 11:48 AM

That sucks. Would freak me out to be close to something so beautiful tha tis under water.

LaughingCat 09-06-2010 11:50 AM

The insurance company will probably pull some chit like "your policy states no coverage on holiday weekends"

1HYPER1 09-06-2010 02:19 PM

That sucks big time

packinair 09-06-2010 03:37 PM

I got back from vacation to find my Cruiser was 3/4 under water about 2 weeks ago, it was only a 35 footer, but was a sick sight to see just the nose sticking up, mine turned out to be the seal in the V drive, needless to say its a total loss.

wrinkleface 09-06-2010 05:51 PM

bummer!

MiniHawk 09-06-2010 08:21 PM

Wonder what the owners reaction will be....

"what the phuck!!!!!!!!"

spk1 09-07-2010 01:27 AM

Its awful when something like that happens, but you really dont see it as often or as much as you would think, with all the boats in all different stages of condition docked behind the houses around here.

sean stinson 09-07-2010 06:43 AM

Now thats a bad day!!!!!! That sux!!!!!

J.B. Marshall 09-07-2010 10:17 AM

I can't even imagine how he will feel when he sees that  I would have a dam stroke!

LapseofReason 09-07-2010 10:55 AM

DriverofDonzi 09-07-2010 11:40 AM

2 days and it's not touched. The boat shifted a bit so now the motor on the tender goes under at high tide when the boat sinks down and it's out of the water when it's low tide and the boat sits on the bottom.
Someone put a bullS#it boom patially around the boat. . It's not doing a thing since it only goes around the boat 300 degrees. There are 9 white absorbant pads we use in the shop, floating on the water. I'm sure it so someone can bill the insurace company $100k for enviornmental clean up.

I was thinking, maybe the guy dosen't have insurance or it would have been moved by now. What a shame.

Correction, it's a 60' Ocean, not a 55'.

tzrider 09-07-2010 08:56 PM

I went down the canal yesterday in the skater to have a peek and have to say it really is an ominous sight. I also saw the yellow skirt and absorbant pads and thought " Nice attempt" on that note though I didn't see any evidence of fuel or oil in the water. Sad situation whatever the circumstance

LaughingCat 09-07-2010 09:22 PM

Thanks for the update. Can't imagine how much fuel and oil was in the tanks. Sixty foot and I'm guessing 4k gallon capacity.

Maybe you can start a time lapse video from your webcam. Would be interesting to see how they right that thing.

fkboatman 09-07-2010 10:49 PM

air bags and and start pupmping, if there is enough room in canal they may obt to bring barge in to help get it floating.

fkboatman 09-07-2010 10:50 PM

anybody know where owner is, no nieghbors know how to get in contact with them or a family member.

I would guess the same thing on the insurance, the salvage guys wont let that boat sit there for five minutes if there is an insurance company to bill.

spk1 09-08-2010 01:12 AM

It's off Bayview and Oakland.

We saw the neihbors our there when they returned. The husband was on the phone screaming at someone. I told the wife I tried to let them know in the middle of the night. She said it's not our boat "we're not that stupid".

Appently they are renting the dock out. I'm not sure what she meant by "we're not that stupid" but i took it as she meant you have to be stupid to own a boat.:lolhit:
