Thinking about heading down to Miami for a long weekend this winter. Maybe even for the boat show. Can someone recommend a decent place to stay that is nice and clean but won't break the bank at the same time? Thanks

You would be much better off if you are trying to not break the bank by coming up to Lauderdale. Rates are at least 1/3 to 1/2 of South Beach at that time, and its only about a 1/2 drive or so. Check out the Harbor Beach Marriott or Sheraton Beach (used to be Yankee Clipper), but be warned, nothing will be cheap down here at that time of the year. If I remember correctly the Fountainbleu is like $750 + a night during season

I was thinking about going to the boat show, probably won't have time but I did find some Marriott's by the airport that were pretty cheap.Depends on what you want anything by the show is going to be big bucks. For $750.00 a night it better be in Maui.

biscayne bay marriott for the boat show, the rates might even still be reasonable right now, ride the shuttle to the collins show, and then take a $5-$10 cab ride to the heart of south beach, or just walk across the street and hang out at the fountain bleau pool.

Fair Wind hotel 10th & Collins. Older hotel, beds a little saggy but not bad. Open air restaurant and bar. Parking across the street. Reasonable rates. Convention shuttle two blocks away.

IIRC I paid somewhere around $150/night for the show but that was five years ago. Likely higher now.
