What boats are there in the 28' range?

I have got my Aggressor sold and am looking for a boat in the 28' range. I would like a 288 Sunsation but can't find any right now in my 35k max price range. I am also looking at 29 Scarabs. If any of you know of anything out there let me know. Nothing against Baja and Powerquest but thats not my style. I boat on Lake Cumberland and I don't want to see my exact boat out there. Thanks for the help!

Agreed, if you want something that will hold its value, and be unique, one of the above, may cost you a few more $$ upfront, but well worth it.

The price is also relative to what the boat has on it already. I figure to have to add steering or gauges or maybe do a little engine tweaking to make something the way I want it.
I do want something that will hold some value.

Pantera
Apache
Carrera
this will probably be the concensus from everyone on OSO but you should also check out:

donzi 28zx
formula fastech 292
baja 29 OL
28 active thunder

my 0.02

Expensive Date 10-28-2010 07:39 AM

In the 28 foot range don't forget the 35 Fountain.:party-smiley-004: Really though 28 pantera or Active Thunder.

Mastercraft240 10-28-2010 07:59 AM

Theres a mint 27 activator with a brand new 620hp engine in it for $28k. An absolute steal.

SVL-WARLOCK 10-28-2010 08:02 AM

There are several warlocks out there in that range. The performance and ride quality are awesome. Definately take a look. the 29 and the 27.

Too bad you won't consider PQ. Got a buddy with a 29 Enticer for sale in your price range that is clean.

Odd.....your avatar shows a 29 Formula, which is close to the size the poster is looking for. You dont even suggest your own brand.
Sometimes what people dont say speaks volumns.:drink:
29 Fountain single, is along the same lines as what is suggested, a little smaller cockpit than some of the others. Boat with friends that have a 288 Sunsation, have been in the boat several times. Its rock solid, and has held up well. I think he has owned it about 6 years.

Don't forget the price range attached to the initial question. Formula's hold their value very well. I don't think you'll find a 292 Fastech for 35 grand. A 27 might work though.

Back to the original poster... I'll second the Donzi 28 ZX from above. They can be found in your range, also look at 27 ZX. The bottoms of the late twin step 27 ZX are the same as the newer 28 ZX but they can be had for a lot less money. in single Big Block (HP500's were available, along with standard BBC power) or twin SB's.

29 Warlock is a great boat. So are the 30 Activator and 20 Superboat. These are primarily sit-down boats, but they all run extremely well.

I am assuming 20 superboat is a typo:lolhit:

Agree on the Donzi and AT, also warlock, and Velocity.

28 Nordic Heat...I love mine.

I test drove many other boats in the 28ft range.

He said 28 ft thats why I did not suggest a 29 Formula. That and there are better boats in that size range than a 292.

Are you looking for a twin or single? Stand up or sit down?No one said superboat or kryptonite. I like the 29 kryptonite.

Fountain 29! Best boat in the world!!!!!!!

Mine has now 700 houres. Still love this little rocket. It will handle everything from flat water to swells of 8 foot. You just can't go wrong with this boat.

(I am VERY "objective" here now.... :-)

I don't care too much for the look of a 271. From what I have seen a 292 is not in the budget.

Preferably a stand up and a single. In the size boat I am looking at a single big block would be my first choice. If the right boat was out there a couple of small blocks would work also.

My mind is way open I will entertain anything that I know is built well. It seemed like a month ago before I sold my boat there were some steals out there, now I can't find the really killer deals.

Here's a steal. Activators are usually a sit down boat, but this one is a stand up. Big block, lightening headers, imco lower, silent choice, stereo, absolutely IMMACULATE! I'm pretty anal when it comes to scratches/blemishes and I can honestly tell you I could not find any of the above on this boat. Freakin' clean.

The kryptonite is awesome-- I own one. The ride is really amazing, but more of a floaty feel rather than cutting/planted feel. Unlike the activator, which slices through rather easily, the kryptonite really glides on top and therefore you feel the bumps more. Some say the ride is a little "harder". Its a sit down though and this gentlemen wants a stand up I believe.

Nice boat

TexomaPowerboater 10-28-2010 01:39 PM

I like my 28 Apache. I think its the best balanced 28ft boat with twin big blocks. Has a good size cabin for its size and handles rough water very well. Really an all around great boat. I might consider selling it.

Wasnt it/isnt it already for sale? I thought I saw something a few weeks ago that you were selling?

To TX's credit, everything is for sale, always, at the right price:drink:

Stormrider 10-28-2010 02:20 PM

Here's a 28 brave. May work for you.

BTW, that 27activator is a sitdown boat.

I think your boat came from cincy didn't it?

If you like the scarab 29 with twins mine is for sale and in your price range it is in the classifieds

rlj676 10-28-2010 04:59 PM

Powerplay, Pantera, Active Thunder - that's my short shopping list.

I personally went with a Powerplay 28. Runs great in the rough, rare (13 built) and good looking S Fl lines. Look at the Powerplay thread in GD here to see the build quality.

I've been thinking of selling mine (but now leaning towards "upgrading" my vette to a Z06 instead). Here's some pics as you don't see many.
