502 Carb Gen 6 Help.....
Hi everyone,
I need some help information, I bought a new crate 502 Gen VI from 1800Runsnew.com (Great Service) I blow 4 engines in the past 2 years with less than 4 hours on the water each. I swap mechanics as well and that didn't fix the problem ether, so I decide no more rebuild or use fly by night mechanics so I purchase a crate long block engine. Here are the specs of the engine: 435 HP, roller cam, single plane air gap merlin intake, stainless marine 4" thu transon, electronic marine ignition.
What will be the best performance specs like timing (base & advance), spark gap, carburetor CFM.
1995 Formula 25 Boating on this same boat since 2001 so I the driver I’m not part of the blowing engines issue.
Your input will be very much appreciated.
Thank you

Timing at 34* full advance at 3000rpms, shoot for around 14* base timing, but let it fall where it may.
What ignition do you have????
Spark plugs, AC MR43T or NGK BR6FS gapped at .035-.040
800cfm Holley carb
What failures did you have in the other engines??????? 4 blown engines with less than 4 hrs each sounds like a set up problem. Plenty of people have run 1800runsnew engines with good results.
