babe.. blew motor with reversion... (explain what that is) and now the boat is worthless without a motor!!

worked for me.. then forgot to tell her I bought another boat till the middle of the week when I was driving the chicago to pick up that friday... good thing she wanted a better rough water boat too!

I guess I'm lucky my wife would never say anything like that.But I also make sure all other bills are paid before I play so that may have something to do with it.

I usually get the " you know how many nice vacations we could have taken with all the money spent on that damn boat".

She loves to be on it, but the other 7 months of the year I hear all about my debt from it.

Whatever... C'mon guys we all know it is a sickness that we don't want to heal from !!!!!!:drink::drink:

LOL....yeah i hear it all the time...subtle little jabs about spending all my time with my girlfriend...recently she's been saying at least she got a "boob job"....after i had some new motors installed last winter and now suddenly she's a whore...the kicker was when i just bought a building to keep her warm and dry in the offseason.... Oh well after 35 years she better get used to it... the girlfriend that is...

My wife never says things like that...she just gets upset if it isnt working during prime summer boating weather...and if it isnt...she says...fix it please!

Seriously...I think it is all about making sure she has all the things she wants out of life as well...its all about balance.

Lucky for me that the boat doesn't cost her any money. She really doesn't care what I spend as long as I keep paying the rest of the bills. She never even saw the last 3 boats before I brought them home. I showed her some pics, told her when I was leaving and when I'd be back with the new boat.

Thats Great..., Randy, I know your pain, and its Racing not just Boats. I had one GF that used to get drunk and I quote, "Why don't you stick your D... in that exhaust pipe because thats the only thin you give a s... about", most GF's think its somthing that I'll grow out of

Boats are a BARGAIN ... compared to what attorneys cost to get rid of them :drink:

The only caveat is if I run over 80 with her in the boat, I get a very sore left shoulder!!!!!

My wife is pretty good with my sickness......she doesn't mind the time and money invested.....she realizes it is my passion......although she doesn't know the actual cost but has an idea........I just have to understand her passion for bags, shoes, diamonds and dresses.......sometimes when I am shelling out for a pair of shoes I do ask her why I have to support both our passions ....WTF....?? The only thing she does bi**h about more and more lately is the safety factor of High Performance Boating...... being a father of one now, and a second on the way I do understand where she is coming from.......

I buy a lot of toys and the above is pretty much how it works in my house as well. It's my money so she doesn't really care. Although mine sees it coming (the research for weeks ahead of time on the internet) and is not at all surprised when another car, boat, bike, truck, etc shows up at the house. When one does, I just have to make sure the honey-do list is up to date before the new toy arrives so she doesn't have anything major to ***** about. :D Typically, she's really good about it as she knows these are the things that make me happy. :kiss: Then again, I think she just accepted it a long time ago as she knows how I am and there's not a damn thing she can do about it anyway. :evilb:

Like SG said, in exchange I never say a single thing when she comes home with XYZ, goes out to eat with her friends, or goes to the salon every week. I know those things aren't a drop in the bucket compared to what I spend on toys every year... and besides, she's too frugal to spend big money of the crazy expensive designer crap anyway. :drink:

There are certainly worse habits you can have. My wife never complains about money or time spent on the boat. I think she pisses away more $$ on stupid chit than I do on boating.

I used to have it made, everything for the boat was "Like a hundred bucks or so". Until she actually started working for a boat dealer and when she started it was like "Holy crap I can't believe what people spend on these things". Now she comes home and says "So the guy brings in $9000 in cash so we can get started on his boat, I told him we'd see him next week with another stack." :lolhit::lolhit:

On the up side I get a really good price on parts and they show up on the kitchen table :D

Mine doesnt get it, but she lets me get away with it as long as the rest of the bills are paid.

My wife is cool with it but I subcribe to the it is always easier to ask for forgiveness then get permission.... :D

I just bring stuff home and deal with the fallout. There is ussually none but I don't tell her what to buy or not to buy either. In fact I am always pushing her to go out and spend some money on herself. She loves the boat however, and when it broke she wanted it fixed ASAP. If the Donzi broke she would not be so bent to get it fixed as she does not like that one. She did not get it when I told her that the Donzi would be around long after the Formula is gone.

Mine tells everyone that "the damn boat cost more that the house!" but she loves it. We met on the water and we'll stay on the water!

Doesn't she understand that you just won two world championships? You are the king of the hill, at least until next season starts and you need that new motor in order to maintain your dominance of the class.
