Default Bimini top question

My parents have a pontoon on Norris Lake. The bimini top got all moldy and is being replaced under warranty. Their boat is an '08 Harris Flote Bote. It's primarily taupe in color and the maker of the fabric says they no longer have an exact color match. They offered black. Has anyone used a black bimini? Obviously our concern is heat. Thanks for any input.

Darker colors typically fade quicker and also will show wear quicker.

We have a dark blue canopy on the sea ray. Not black, but pretty dark. Heat is a non-issue. It does get warm, but in the dead heat of TX summer any canopy is better than no canopy.

Thanks. I'll tell him to go ahead and try it.
