Looking for my old Scarab
I was wondering if anyone knows the whereabouts of my old boat. It was sold out of New Wave Marine in Deptford NJ in 2000 or 2001.
The admiral has given me tentative permission to buy it back if it can be located and is for sale. Thanks for the help. By the way, Kenny at New wave did the Imron paint. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tyetscarab.jpg |
I don't have it......nice rig
|
I have never seen it around south Jersey.
|
Boat was sold to a guy in north Jersey or New York.
Here we are getting ready to go for a spin around the the week of Thanksgiving. I believe these pics were from '91. Boy I'm getting old. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tscarab009.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tscarab010.jpg |
Nice looking rig. You trying to get a classic Scarab collection going? I like it!!!!!!!!!:drink:

Just the typical "I should have never sold that one" story. Boy............if that boat could talk.:drink: |
I hear ya on that. I have a car I sold after owning it for 18 years and wish I had never sold it. Difference here is the car is 1 mile from my house and is up for sale. If I only had the extra $$$.
Good luck on your search. Cool ride! |
if you have any connects with local dmv or lis place may be able to run the hin # or older reg numbers if kept in NJ

nice looking rig. really like the red pants though...have any pics of motors? Dry exh? well done! how fast give us some gory details?! First off red pants not mine. I'm wearing the black sweatshirt leaning into the boat in the second pic. Gil, dry to the tips. 75 mph. I do remember on that day when we started out Great Egg inlet it was so stupid rough that I actually had to wait for a gap wide enough between the swells to spin the boat around and come back in. Every fourth one was curling on top right in the center of the channel. The swells were monsters that day. |
that is such a cool boat. 75, your in the big boy club in the 1990s there where only a few heavy hitters running better then! Post more pics!! I remember running with INDIGO out of the great egg inlet and lost sight of the boat, it gets rough, and teaches you quick! What kind of drives? TRS? can you run trailer reg? something to tie the boat/ trailer / owner there cant be that many scarabs of that perticular year reg. I researched it a little and you can order (Pay for) a national DMV resistration of a perticular model of boat. Boat builders do this to market to a certain area.
all the best and keep nosing around the next. i will keep my i's peeled |
Here's a pic of pulling an engine......... Ever seen Gil exhaust powder coated white from the factory?

Not yet. :)

Funny - you look thinner in the second pic on the thread. :evilb:
But hey cool. How was the boat rigged when you owned it? Also, what was the model? HIN looks like a 300 being a 79 (I think), but I thought all those had windows. I had an 84 S-Type with 454/425s and Kaama Drives. My exhaust was powder coated Kaama edition Hardin P-1000s connected to stainless dry exhaust with thru hull dumps. I was spinning 4b 17x24s and running close to 80. Like you say... If that boat could talk... |
I guess a good follow up is how is it rigged now in comparison, and does it kill you to look at those MUCH less cool graphics?
LOL. Congrats on a cool find, though. |
That is sooo cool you found her. At least she didn't get fat, like my old girl's did. :evilb: If you can't get her back ask for one last ride. HAHA

And younger........... And more hair.......... which was darker........ and I would jump from the boat to the ground with no ladder if I was in a hurry................... could come in from being out all night and get a shower, hitch the boat up and head to the shore with no sleep............ yeah, I know :cartman: The guy with the glasses is my brother Greg. He was 23 and I was 29 in the pics. They were taken in 1990. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tscarab012.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tscarab007.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tscarab003.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tscarab001.jpg |

LOL. Congrats on a cool find, though. She now has a pair of 454's and the owner told me she does around 60. I was thinking.............and I hate when my mind starts to wander.............could one sand off enough of the white to pick up the outline of the old graphics underneath? Then you could re-tape and re-shoot the old paint job. |

I helped my buddy put the engines back in it. That pic is at extreme Marine. The guy still had the yellow exhaust gil manifolds when he brought him the boat. Best of luck with it..

You are correct. We filled all of the widows in before we painted it in 1989. |
