I boat on the other side. Lakes Huron, Erie and St. Clair. There is a lot of law enforcement and Coasties and they've always been good to me. I'm glad they're there :). Had a Coastie helicopter swoop down over my boat once, never heard him coming. I figure he was looking to see if my boat was full of duffel bags or something......There are no speed or enforced noise restrictions off-shore.

MA is easy actually. The only thing I hate is that they have the ban on certain guns made after a certain date. I can't remember what that date was but that has been my only gripe. If I want to cary out of Mass into most states you have to apply for a permit. If you have a license in MA you will get that permit in almost any state no problem because of the requirements that we have being strickter then most states. If you can not get a gun in MA (as a resident) then there is a reason and frankly I am gladd you don't have one :drink:

JESUS i was always taught never to shoot on water...rounds can deflect off the surface and travel much futher than normal with no control over where they are going
bird hunting is the only exception
why would anyone even need a handgun or hp riffle in a boat full time?
i can understand transport to go deer hunting and such but full time and plinking on the water?????

I always have a few loaded flare guns aboard..imagine getting one of those in the stomach..

I have a carry permit but never have it on the boat around here, but trips to the Bahamas I had my 45 with 8 rounds and 12ga. with six. I figure any pirates would have more fire power and I would be lucky to get off all 14 shots anyway, but I rather go down fighting than begging.
